PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jacob Handler (ranked 1816 p4p, 3079 weight class) and Soren Hansen (ranked 240 p4p, 362 weight class). Hansen has chosen If I had a heart as his entrance music. Soren Hansen told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jacob Handler!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Soren Hansen!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Steve Smith and Robert Douchet.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice defenses there by Hansen.
Hansen changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
A looping hook to the body misses from Handler. Hansen does a little dance to reset his feet.
Handler throws a jab but it's blocked by Hansen.
Hansen drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Handler defends it well.
Hansen uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Handler.
Hansen let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.
The fighters circling - Handler throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Handler lands with a straight right. Hansen didn't see that one coming.
Handler throws an off balance right hand

and Hansen counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Handler!

Hansen tries for a kimura but Handler is defending well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
You can see the frustration on Handler's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Handler is looking to reverse the position.
Handler stops Hansen from passing to mount.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Hansen in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Handler is tapping! That's the end of the fight!
