Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Gianni Castellana (ranked 210 p4p, 59 weight class) and Riley Hatfield (ranked 36 p4p, 11 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Castellana might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Good night. Hatfield is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Cruel World- Willie Nelson. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 28 - 18 - 0, fighting out of London, Gianni Castellana!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Riley Hatfield!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Hugh Johnson and Steve Erwin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jab by Castellana.
Castellana tries to clinch but Hatfield moves away
and Hatfield counters with a straight right hand.
Castellana closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
It looks like Gianni Castellana has been cut.
Castellana moves into the clinch.
Hatfield throws an elbow but it misses.
Castellana lands with a right to the head.
Hatfield pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Castellana misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Hatfield! But no joy.
Castellana jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Hatfield looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Castellana buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Castellana slips under a jab from Hatfield.
Hatfield throws a hook to the side of Castellana's head but Castellana sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Castellana was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
Hatfield moves out of range as Castellana strikes.
Hatfield has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Castellana avoids the head kick by Hatfield.
Hatfield throws a looping overhand right but Castellana ducks down to avoid it.
Castellana throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Castellana moves out of range of the strikes.

Castellana clinches up with Hatfield and pushes him back against the cage.
Castellana's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Hatfield clobbers Castellana with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Hatfield gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Castellana.
Hatfield throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Castellana's jab looks to have found its range, popping Hatfield under the eye.
Castellana misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Hatfield misses with an uppercut. Castellana saw that one coming.

Castellana throws an overhand right that lands on Hatfield's shoulder, as Hatfield tries to avoid the shot.

and Castellana takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

and Hatfield cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Hatfield tests Castellana's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Castellana pushes Hatfield up against the cage in a clinch.
Hatfield lands with a light punch inside.

I was talking to Castellana's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Castellana misses with a hook to the ribs.
Hatfield creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.
Castellana breaks the clinch.
Castellana fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Hatfield looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Castellana is rocked!
Castellana is keeping his hands low and just asking to be knocked out. Hatfield Raises his leg and lands a stunning axe kick! Castellana is out cold, face down on the mat!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:47 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Riley Hatfield! Riley Hatfield retains his lightweight title!
