And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Joey Herbert!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Yves DeLean and Gregory Folan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Herbert scores with a body shot.
Herbert misses with a series of wild punches.
Van-Plant throws a big counter combination but Herbert scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Herbert throws a jab but it's blocked by Van-Plant.

Van-Plant has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

Van-Plant went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.

Van-Plant tries to bum rush Herbert with a series of wild strikes but Herbert uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Herbert tries to score with a low kick but Van-Plant moves his leg out of the way.
Joey Herbert seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Herbert throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Herbert ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Herbert walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Herbert lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Van-Plant at a distance.
Jab, jab by Herbert - just one landing.
Herbert rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Van-Plant moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
A little feinted left hand from Van-Plant on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.

A big head kick from Herbert and Van-Plant is sent sprawling to the canvas!

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Herbert sitting in guard doing not very much at all here. Van-Plant doesn't need a second invitation though! He's locked up a guillotine and he's squeezing tight! That is tiiiiiiiiight! Herbert paying the price for stalling here - he's pushing hard on the arm trying to free himself but it's no use! He's tapped! WOW, quick submission from Van-Plant - great work!
