Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between David Scott (ranked 849 p4p, 1683 weight class) and Arniquez Montgomery (ranked 122 p4p, 254 weight class). Arniquez Montgomery told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 17 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, David Scott! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 11 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Arniquez Montgomery! The judges for this bout are Darius Henderson, Eliza Hachem and Winston Howard.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Montgomery connects with a body shot. Montgomery looks to land a combination. Scott sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
It looks like David Scott has been cut. Montgomery lands a nice hook to Scott's body. Scott takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Scott moves out of range as Montgomery strikes. Scott attempts a counter takedown but Montgomery avoids it well and moves away. Scott uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Montgomery. Montgomery throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Montgomery throws an overhand right that lands on Scott's shoulder, as Scott tries to avoid the shot. Arniquez Montgomery seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Montgomery tries to bum rush Scott with a series of wild strikes but Scott uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Montgomery has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. Scott is looking to clinch. Montgomery swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Montgomery lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Montgomery connects with a body shot. Scott is breathing heavily. Montgomery scores with a jab. Montgomery clobbers Scott with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. Montgomery jabbing away but nothing is landing. Montgomery misses with a left hand letting Scott counter with a right hand. Scott was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger. Scott uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Montgomery. A left and a right from Montgomery both land. Nice combination.

Scott moves into range and clinches up with Montgomery. Scott is trying to pull guard but Montgomery turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. Montgomery lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage. Scott tries to pull guard but Montgomery forces him back to his feet, against the cage. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for David Scott. That's going to take a lot out of him. Montgomery lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards. Scott successfully pulls guard.

Scott throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Montgomery escapes and throws Scott's legs to the side, diving into side control! Scott gets back to half guard. Montgomery really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Scott. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Scott looking for submissions from an awkward position here. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Scott actively working from the bottom here. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Arniquez Montgomery dominated that round. The cut man is working on David Scott's cut. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! A combination from Montgomery does no damage. A slow jab from Montgomery misses its intended target. Montgomery throws a shot from downtown. Scott moves away and avoids it. Montgomery lands a left and a right that send Scott crashing to the mat, dazed. Montgomery thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet! It looked like Scott wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit. Scott steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Montgomery. Scott has taken the fight to the clinch.

Scott is trying to pull guard but Montgomery has him pressed against the cage. Scott jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Montgomery walks away with a smile on his face. Scott gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Scott keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky. Montgomery loads up on a big right hand but Scott slips the punch. Montgomery misses with a looping right. Jab, jab by Montgomery - just one landing. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Scott closes the distance and pushes Montgomery back into the cage. Scott is trying to pull guard but Montgomery has him pressed against the cage. Montgomery throws a head punch that misses. A head punch blocked on the inside by Scott. Scott ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Scott no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Scott is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Montgomery rolls with it to try and escape but Scott cranks on the arm and Montgomery is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
