Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Antonio Cardillo (ranked 2170 p4p, 3932 weight class) and Will Rock Jr (ranked 272 p4p, 433 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Antonio Cardillo!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Will Rock Jr!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Arvi Lind and Anni Minnemäki.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A low kick from Rock Jr misses

and Cardillo decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Rock Jr's guard.
Rock Jr wants to get back to his feet but Cardillo passes into half guard.

Cardillo is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Rock Jr still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Rock Jr has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Cardillo wants to control but Rock Jr is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Cardillo is pulling down on Rock Jr's head. It's preventing any offense from Rock Jr, at least for the moment.

Cardillo had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Rock Jr defends it easily.

Rock Jr got a little sloppy there for a moment and Cardillo has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Rock Jr has managed to get both his arms back between Cardillo's legs - danger averted.

Cardillo is looking for a triangle here but Rock Jr uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
You can see the frustration on Cardillo's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

That's time! Cardillo's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Rock Jr thows a body kick. Cardillo tries to catch it but that hurt him.
Rock Jr throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Cardillo sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Rock Jr moves into range and clinches up with Cardillo.

Cardillo has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Rock Jr clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

Rock Jr is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Cardillo gets his way!

Rock Jr wants to take a breather but Cardillo is having none of it.

Cardillo working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Rock Jr doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Rock Jr manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Cardillo has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Cardillo is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Rock Jr's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Rock Jr's back!

Rock Jr is trying escape back to his feet. He turns into his opponent's guard and eventually finds his way back to his feet.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Cardillo changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Rock Jr looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Will Rock Jr showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Cardillo drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Rock Jr manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Cardillo has Rock Jr in his guard.

Rock Jr wants to get up but he can't break Cardillo's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
