PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Danylo Belenuik (ranked 4217 p4p, 6439 weight class) and Mad Panda (ranked 222 p4p, 266 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mad Panda!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, William Peck and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Panda's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Belenuik connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Panda scrambles back to his feet.

Panda fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Belenuik sprawls well initially but Panda persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Panda stops Belenuik from getting back to his feet.
Belenuik is staying active underneath Panda, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Panda is controlling the pace.
Belenuik tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Panda manages to move to mount!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Panda looking for a guillotine from mount but Belenuik is having none of it.

Panda can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Belenuik is looking to escape.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Panda throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Belenuik tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Panda is in Belenuik's guard.
Belenuik is looking to stand back up but Panda counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Belenuik.

Belenuik wants to get back to his feet.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Panda with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Mad Panda will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Panda takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Belenuik scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.

Panda scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Panda is looking to take a break and control but Belenuik is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Belenuik pushes Panda off but Panda dives into side control.
Belenuik tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.
Belenuik is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
Panda tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Panda has control of Belenuik's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Belenuik regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Panda takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Panda moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Belenuik has worked his arm free - good work by Belenuik!

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Panda's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Mad Panda showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!

Panda blocks a head kick by Belenuik.
Mad Panda is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Belenuik cracks Panda with a right hand to the side of the head.
Belenuik connects with a looping right hand.
Panda tries to clinch but Belenuik is having none of it.
Belenuik throws a big counter combination but Panda scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Panda moves in looking to clinch but Belenuik pushes him off.

Panda tries to close the distance and clinch up but Belenuik swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Panda moves forwards but Belenuik connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Panda shoots for a takedown but Belenuik saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
A counter left hand to the body from Belenuik misses its target.
Belenuik throws a body punch but Panda moves out of range.
And Panda tries to counter it with a takedown but Belenuik pushes his down on his head and steps out.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Panda fails to land the takedown.
Panda takes a head kick and shrugs it off.

Belenuik thuds a left hand into Panda's body.
Panda looks to clinch
and Belenuik connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Panda walks into a stiff left hand from Belenuik.

Panda is rocked!
Belenuik lands with a slapping head kick.
Panda is still on wobbly legs! Can Belenuik finish him?
Belenuik keeps Panda at a distance using the push kick.
Panda seems to have recovered his senses.
Panda walks into a left hand.
Belenuik ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

Panda manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Belenuik on his heels. He'll look to pass Belenuik's guard now, I'm sure.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Panda seems to be looking for submissions.
Belenuik tries to kick Panda off in order to stand up. Panda Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
Panda prevents Belenuik from escaping the position.
Belenuik is trying to escape the position but Panda is controlling the position.
Belenuik pushes Panda away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Panda gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Mad Panda has got the better of the ground game so far.

Panda wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Belenuik, who protects the arm well.

Belenuik wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Panda misses with a takedown

Danylo Belenuik has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mad Panda.

Danylo Belenuik showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Panda has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
