Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ripley West (ranked 2717 p4p, 3137 weight class) and Daniel Galarza (ranked 286 p4p, 327 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ripley West! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Daniel Galarza! The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Eddie Farnsworth and Bruno Lombardi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! West falls off balance throwing a combination
and Galarza counters by moving into the clinch. West lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
It looks like Daniel Galarza has been cut. West is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Galarza tries to pull guard but West holds him up against the cage and eventually Galarza drops back down to his feet.
West is pushing Galarza up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word. With the two fighters working up against the cage, Galarza just misses with a elbow thrown towards West's brow. West lands a nice uppercut. Galarza is looking for a takedown. West lands with a short punch from the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. With the fighters clinched against the cage, West creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut. West lands a hook to the side of the head. Galarza keeps control of West as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Galarza pulls guard effortlessly. Galarza had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. West defends it easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Galarza working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from West. West postures up and lands a big shot to Galarza's brow. West trying to control the position from guard on top but Galarza is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. West in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Galarza keeping moving, preventing West from controlling successfully. Galarza controls West momentarily but West frees himself. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as West accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Galarza looking to control.
West is looking to work some ground and pound but Galarza has wrist control. Galarza is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. West throwing strikes from guard but Galarza blocks nicely. West has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Galarza working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from West. Galarza preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Galarza preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Galarza is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. West is aware though and is defending well. West is looking to work some ground and pound but Galarza has wrist control. West in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. West throwing strikes but missing. Galarza lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. West has control of Galarza's left arm, preventing Galarza from doing any damage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. West wants to sweep here but Galarza controlling him for the moment. West is working hard here to advance position. West manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage. Galarza tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Ripley West has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Daniel Galarza. West lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage. Galarza tries to pull guard but West won't allow it.
West misses with a short punch on the inside. West wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Galarza has him pressed against the cage. West can't break the clinch.
Galarza has clasped his hands together around West's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done. West throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!
That's four minutes gone in the round. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! West connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Galarza's hands. Galarza swings and misses with a hook to the body.
West seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym. Galarza jabbing away but nothing is landing. West connects with a jab and follows up with a big overhand right! Oh that's hurt Galarza! He's out on his feet! West rushes in and drops Galarza with another big right hand, forcing the referee to stop the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:24 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Ripley West! Ripley West was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
