The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

O Brien throws a lazy right hand but Kanaani sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Mehdi Kanaani seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
O Brien bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Kanaani's head backwards.
O Brien throws a hook but Kanaani avoids it easily.
O Brien scores with a crisp jab that stopped Kanaani in his tracks.
A bone on bone clash there as O Brien blocks the leg kick.
O Brien fires out a quick counter leg kick but Kanaani just manages to avoid it.
O Brien throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Kanaani will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Kanaani throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
O Brien looks to land a left hand but Kanaani moved out of range nicely.
Kanaani darts in looking for a takedown but O Brien gets double underhooks and turns Kanaani into the cage.

O Brien lands a nice hook to Kanaani's body. Kanaani takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
O Brien connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Kanaani momentarily.

The cut above Mehdi Kanaani's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
O Brien lands with a good body shot.
O Brien throws a right and a left that both miss.
Kanaani has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Kanaani there as he acknowledges the shot.
O Brien lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Kanaani at a distance.

and O Brien counters with a thumping low kick.

O Brien cracks Kanaani with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Kanaani looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can O Brien finish him?

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

O Brien connects with a right hand that leaves Kanaani sleeping against the cage! What a finish by O Brien!

Seamus O Brien decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
