PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Johnny Bronco (ranked 1130 p4p, 1304 weight class) and Red Crow (ranked 165 p4p, 188 weight class). Bronco's entrance music is The Horses - Daryl Braithwaite . A fine choice. Crow comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Scarlet - Age of Seduction kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Red Crow was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

With a record of 17 - 12 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Red Crow!
The judges for this bout are Francis DeMontford, Hugh Johnson and Skip Squint.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bronco darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Bronco trying to control the pace.

Bronco looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Bronco stops Crow from getting back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Crow is looking to improve his position.

Crow won't allow Bronco to pass to mount.
Bronco is trying to control. Crow wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Bronco thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Crow's head.
Crow is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Bronco wants to free his trapped foot but Crow is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Bronco perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Bronco is looking for a kimura but Crow is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Bronco to get the leverage.

Bronco is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Crow doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Bronco.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Bronco lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Crow throws a hook to the side of Bronco's head but Bronco sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Red Crow is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Crow breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
The fighters circle momentarily. Bronco darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

Crow darts in and out, connecting with a jab.

Bronco uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Crow has time to react.

Bronco closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Crow to the mat! Crow manages to get full guard.

Bronco on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Bronco lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Crow at a distance.

Crow fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Bronco.

Crow looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Crow jabbing away but nothing is landing.

Bronco throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Crow lands a leg kick that knocks Bronco off balance momentarily.
Crow feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Broncos jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

Bronco forces Crow back against the cage and clinches.
Red Crow has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Bronco blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Bronco blocks a couple of punches on the inside.

Bronco manages to pull guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Bronco looking for a guillotine here but Crow defends easily.
Bronco has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Crow would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Crow stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bronco swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Bronco working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Crow doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Crow manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Bronco is looking for a triangle here but Crow uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

Bronco trying his best to control but Crow has mounted him.
Bronco tries to lock up and control but Crow gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Bronco tries to reverse the position but Crow maintains control.

Crow's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Bronco is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Crow lands with some strikes.
