Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alex Alexandrov (ranked 2320 p4p, 2236 weight class) and Paulo Blikstein (ranked 341 p4p, 328 weight class). Paulo Blikstein has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Alex Alexandrov's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 28 - 27 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Alex Alexandrov! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 19 - 15 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Paulo Blikstein! The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Yukihiro Shimada and Hirohito Nitta.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Blikstein avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Alexandrov instigates a clinch. Good body shot from Blikstein.
Blikstein's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Blikstein shoots in for a takedown but Alexandrov shows good takedown defense. Alexandrov tries to close the distance and clinch but Blikstein swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Alexandrov misses the shot to the body. Blikstein looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. Alexandrov keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Alexandrov is looking to clinch but Blikstein is avoiding it.

Alexandrov tries to clinch but Blikstein is having none of it. Alexandrov closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch. A short right from Blikstein on the inside. Alexandrov stalling in the clinch.
A right hook to the body lands for Alexandrov.
Alexandrov misses with a punch to the body.
A shot in the inside from Blikstein. Blikstein escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Alexandrov takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. Blikstein fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Alex Alexandrov has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Paulo Blikstein. Alexandrov misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Blikstein counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Alexandrov looks to clinch letting Blikstein counter with a right hand. A looping hook to the body misses from Alexandrov. Blikstein does a little dance to reset his feet. A little jabbing left from Blikstein on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Blikstein swats away the attempt to clinch by Alexandrov. Alexandrov lands a leg kick that knocks Blikstein off balance momentarily. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Alexandrov tries to clinch up but Blikstein circles away and keeps his distance. Blikstein with the counter takedown but Alexandrov avoids it easily. A swing and a miss from Blikstein. A counter left hand to the body from Alexandrov misses its target. Alexandrov clinches. Our sources have told us that Alexandrov has been working on his elbows in the gym. Alexandrov lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage. Alexandrov breaks from the clinch.

Blikstein catches Alexandrov with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Alexandrov is looking to clinch. Blikstein looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.

Blikstein wants the takedown. Alexandrov is fighting it off but Blikstein persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Alexandrov's guard against the cage. Alexandrov knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Blikstein on the ground. Blikstein stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Alexandrov swivels though and keeps the full guard. Alexandrov looking to hit a scissor sweep but Blikstein is one step ahead there. Blikstein scoring with punches to the head and body. Alexandrov keeping moving, preventing Blikstein from controlling successfully.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Blikstein lands a couple of digs. Blikstein won't allow Alexandrov to sweep him here. Blikstein throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Alexandrov works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Alexandrov avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Blikstein makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Blikstein has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Alexandrov wants to stand up but Blikstein is controlling him. Blikstein trying to control the position from guard on top but Alexandrov is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Blikstein lands a couple of digs. Blikstein sitting in guard here, content to control. Blikstein is in close to Alexandrov's body, working some short punches and elbows. It looks like Blikstein might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Paulo Blikstein dominated that round. That's time! Back to the action! Alexandrov tries a head kick but it misses.
Blikstein with the counter takedown but Alexandrov avoids it easily. Blikstein lands a big head kick that sends Alexandrov tumbling to the mat! Blikstein takes a step backwards and waves Alexandrov back to his feet - he wants the finish!
Alexandrov is rocked! Alexandrov drives through and clinches with Blikstein against the cage.
Oh Alexandrov is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Alexandrov is stalling here.
Alexandrov seems to have got his legs back now. Blikstein softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage. Alexandrov tries to work over Blikstein's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. Alexandrov pushes Blikstein back against the cage and unloads with a body punch. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Alexandrov misses with a knee strike.
Alexandrov wants to stall.
Blikstein lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Alexandrov backwards. Alexandrov is trying to stall.
Blikstein is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Alexandrov can't fight it off and eventually Blikstein manages to take the fight to the floor. Alexandrov looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard. Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground! Alexandrov being controlled here, momentarily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Blikstein stops Alexandrov from standing up. Blikstein working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Alexandrov's head. Alexandrov has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Blikstein is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position. Blikstein breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Blikstein closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Alexandrov has hold of Blikstein's hands but Blikstein slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Alexandrov is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Blikstein scores with a couple of nice shots. Paulo Blikstein has got the better of the ground game so far. Blikstein winds up and cracks Alexandrov with a swinging punch to the side of the head. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Blikstein lands a nice short elbow. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Blikstein not doing much here.
Blikstein looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Alexandrov with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Blikstein seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Alexandrov does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Alexandrov looks like he's trying to stand up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Blikstein looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Alexandrov missing with punches from the bottom.
Blikstein scores with a couple of good hammerfists. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Alexandrov is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Blikstein scores with a couple of nice shots. Blikstein scores with a big shot! Alexandrov's head bounced off the canvas with a huge thud! More strikes land and the referee has jumped in to save Alexandrov! He was hurt real bad - good stoppage!
