The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Yukihiro Shimada.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A solid body kick from Kuronoa.
Medieval Mercenary seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kuronoa lands with a nice body punch.
Mercenary throws out a loose jab but Kuronoa uses good head movement to avoid it.
Kuronoa is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Mercenary throws a right hand that Kuronoa ducks under and follows up with a left that Kuronoa also avoids with ease.
Mercenary misses the jab.
Mercenary misses with an uppercut.
Mercenary misses with a left hand
and Kuronoa counters with a straight right hand.
Kuronoa misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Kuronoa rushes Mercenary and presses him up against the cage.
Mercenary tries to throw a body punch but Kuronoa avoids it by throwing Mercenary back against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kuronoa lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

A short body shot lands from Mercenary as the two fighters clinch.
Kuronoa tries to work over Mercenary's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Mercenary swings wildly with an uppercut but Kuronoa uses good head movement to avoid it.

Mercenary wanted to stand there but Kuronoa had control of the position.
Kuronoa trying to keep a closed guard but Mercenary is proving a slippery customer.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kuronoa has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Mercenary doesn't defend quickly enough and Kuronoa has managed to lock this one up! Can Mercenary escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Kuronoa on a fantastic submission victory.
