Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mike Smith (ranked 5687 p4p, 2679 weight class) and Trent Temple (ranked 583 p4p, 390 weight class). Temple has chosen HonestKey- What My Life For as his entrance music. Trent Temple will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Temple closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Smith quickly recovers to half guard.
Smith is trying to maintain the position but Temple is very close to passing his half guard.

Temple is trying to work for a kimura but Smith is defending well.
Smith wants to control but Temple is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Temple passes to full mount!
Temple with a couple of short strikes.
Temple really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Smith. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Temple is working for a guillotine from mount but Smith frees his head quite easily.
Smith tries to hold on but Temple pushes him away.

Smith sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Smith moves into full guard.
Temple looking to sit in guard and control but Smith gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Temple is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Smith is staying active.

Temple is defending against the submission attempts here by Smith.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Well, if Smith is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Temple is not content to let Smith control the position.

You can see the frustration on Temple's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Temple escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Smith gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Smith drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Temple dives on top into guard.

Smith seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.

Smith is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Temple has his hands clasped together but Smith extends and breaks Temple's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Smith.
