PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Medieval Mercenary (ranked 3817 p4p, 3849 weight class) and Brooke Marsden (ranked 407 p4p, 410 weight class). Marsden comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Lunatic Fringe kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Medieval Mercenary has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 17 - 2, fighting out of New York, Medieval Mercenary!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 18 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Brooke Marsden!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mercenary slips a straight right by Marsden.
Marsden moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Marsden moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
We've been told by Mercenary's head coaches at Blood and Iron Training that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Mercenary tries a head kick but it misses.
Marsden throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Mercenary stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Marsden lands with an overhand left.
Marsden lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Mercenary at a distance.

Mercenary throws a right and a left that Marsden avoids nicely.
Mercenary rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Marsden moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Marsden fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Mercenary has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Marsden breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Mercenary crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Marsden - the referee stops the clock and Mercenary gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Marsden. Mercenary manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Brooke Marsden seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Marsden shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Mercenary is trying to defend but Marsden finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
