Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 21 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Aiko San! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 28 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Miguel Azevedo Souza! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Azevedo Souza drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. San is trying to improve his position. Azevedo Souza content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though. My spies in Tappelukerho inform me that Azevedo Souza has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends! Azevedo Souza is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, San has escaped the position, nice work there. Azevedo Souza controlling from side mount. San is looking for a sweep. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Azevedo Souza looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Azevedo Souza avoids the strikes from the bottom by San. San tries to strike but it doesn't land. San is trying to improve his position. A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. San is not content to let Azevedo Souza control the position. Azevedo Souza is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, San has escaped the position, nice work there. San is trying to get back to half guard. San is not content to let Azevedo Souza control the position. San tries to bench press Azevedo Souza off him but Azevedo Souza keeps the position. Azevedo Souza wants to lay and pray for a moment but San keeps working. San is trying to work for a sweep but Azevedo Souza has mounted him!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Azevedo Souza working for a guillotine from mount but San is in no mood to give up. San is flailing around like a fish out of water, trying to land strikes. San has given up his back here. Will Azevedo Souza look for the submission or keep pounding away?

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. San is working hard here to advance position. San's coaches at Sol União Elite Alliance of Fighters have been working on his defensive grappling in preparation for this fight so let's see if he can get out of this tricky position. Azevedo Souza is working for the choke. He's slipped one arm under the chin. San has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but Azevedo Souza has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! San taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. Azevedo Souza doesn't care though - he's delighted!
