Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Miguel Azevedo Souza (ranked 208 p4p, 266 weight class) and Gunnar Bloodaxe (ranked 29 p4p, 44 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 28 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Miguel Azevedo Souza! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 19 - 9 - 1, fighting out of New York, Gunnar Bloodaxe! The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Sosuke Kotani and Shirou Masuda.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bloodaxe connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Azevedo Souza momentarily.
Nice jab there from Bloodaxe. A big left from Bloodaxe misses. Azevedo Souza attempts a counter takedown but Bloodaxe avoids it well and moves away. Bloodaxe looks to land a right hand but Azevedo Souza moved out of range. Bloodaxe moves away from the strike by Azevedo Souza. Azevedo Souza walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. Gunnar Bloodaxe seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Bloodaxe lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. Azevedo Souza swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Azevedo Souza is looking to clinch but Bloodaxe is avoiding it.

Azevedo Souza has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Azevedo Souza takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Bloodaxe misses the jab. Azevedo Souza moves out of range as Bloodaxe strikes. Azevedo Souza drops down looking for a counter takedown but Bloodaxe sprawls and moves away. Azevedo Souza takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Bloodaxe lands a nice shot that snaps Azevedo Souza's head back.
That's one minute gone in the round. Azevedo Souza misses the jab. Azevedo Souza on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those. A jab from Bloodaxe misses. Bloodaxe connects with the punch. A slapping leg kick lands for Bloodaxe.

Bloodaxe has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Azevedo Souza is landing a low percentage of strikes. Bloodaxe misses the body punch and Azevedo Souza counters with a takedown into side control. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. That's three minutes gone in the round. Bloodaxe passes Azevedo Souza's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Azevedo Souza is looking to control Bloodaxe's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Azevedo Souza avoid being mounted? The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Bloodaxe takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Azevedo Souza slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Azevedo Souza has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Bloodaxe is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Azevedo Souza. Bloodaxe content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though. Bloodaxe is continuing to stall. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Gunnar Bloodaxe dominated that round. That's time! Azevedo Souza's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Azevedo Souza blocks a leg kick. Azevedo Souza feinted with a counter takedown. Bloodaxe stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. Azevedo Souza ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Bloodaxe moves away. Bloodaxe throws a leg kick that misses. Azevedo Souza tries to counter with a takedown but Bloodaxe is quick to defend against it. Azevedo Souza slips under a jab from Bloodaxe. Bloodaxe pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Bloodaxe misses the jab. A shot to the liver by Bloodaxe. Beautiful body shot. Some wild striking there from Azevedo Souza.
It seemed like Bloodaxe was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. Bloodaxe cracks Azevedo Souza with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. Gunnar Bloodaxe seems to be getting the better of the standup. Bloodaxe dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Azevedo Souza. That did some damage! We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Bloodaxe moves into range and lands a nice leg kick. Azevedo Souza shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Bloodaxe napping and manages to drive through into side control! Bloodaxe tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Azevedo Souza easily slips into full mount! Azevedo Souza tries to control but Bloodaxe wriggling away.

Azevedo Souza is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Bloodaxe has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Bloodaxe! Azevedo Souza is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Bloodaxe defends well. Miguel Azevedo Souza overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Gunnar Bloodaxe showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round! Azevedo Souza takes a shot to the body in his stride.

Azevedo Souza is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all. Bloodaxe looks to land a left hand but Azevedo Souza moved out of range nicely. Azevedo Souza looking to pass the guard. Azevedo Souza slips nicely into half guard. Azevedo Souza is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Miguel Azevedo Souza has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Azevedo Souza seems to be working for a kimura but Bloodaxe defends the submission attempt. Azevedo Souza trying to control the action but Bloodaxe is working from the bottom. Azevedo Souza is actively looking for submissions here but good counter grappling here from Bloodaxe as he works his way to full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Bloodaxe manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Azevedo Souza manages to get himself to full guard.
Azevedo Souza has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Bloodaxe can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Bloodaxe avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Bloodaxe got a little sloppy there for a moment and Azevedo Souza has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Bloodaxe has managed to get both his arms back between Azevedo Souza's legs - danger averted. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Azevedo Souza isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Bloodaxe stacks Azevedo Souza on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Bloodaxe!
And that's the end of the fight! Miguel Azevedo Souza showed his dominance in that final round. I think Bloodaxe has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
