PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Remi Chavaski (ranked 1450 p4p, 764 weight class) and Rockwell Mcgee (ranked 200 p4p, 111 weight class). Mcgee has chosen Rocky Balboa - Música de entrenamiento as his entrance music. On his way into the cage it seems that Remi Chavaski has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Remi Chavaski seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 22 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Remi Chavaski!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rockwell Mcgee!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, John Mangel and Darius Henderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chavaski tries for a takedown but Mcgee sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Mcgee throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Chavaski on the side of the head.
Chavaski moves in looking to clinch but Mcgee pushes him off.
Chavaski has been working on his balance at Chuckles Strenght and Conditioning, so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Mcgee.
Mcgee throws a hook but Chavaski avoids it easily.
Chavaski appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Rockwell Mcgee seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mcgee falls off balance throwing a combination

and Chavaski counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Mcgee scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Chavaski manages to mount him!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mcgee tries to buck Chavaski off but he can't manage it.
Chavaski controlling the position easily from mount.
Chavaski trying to control but Mcgee is having none of it.

Chavaski moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Mcgee has worked his arm free - good work by Mcgee!

Mcgee is trying to get back to his feet.
Chavaski is looking to take a break and control but Mcgee is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Chavaski wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Mcgee, who protects the arm well.
Mcgee felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Chavaski just content to control the position.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Chavaski is looking to take a break and control but Mcgee is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Chavaski thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Chavaski trying to control the position but Mcgee is working away.

Chavaski is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Mcgee knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Mcgee wants to get back to his feet.

Chavaski looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Chavaski is looking to take a break and control but Mcgee is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Mcgee tries to escape but Chavaski is in control.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Chavaski takes a little break here. Mcgee wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Mcgee lands with a nice body punch.
Chavaski walks into a left hand.

Mcgee tries to close the distance and clinch but Chavaski swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Mcgee scores with a one two! Chavaski had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Chavaski shoots in and drives through. Mcgee sprawls well.
Mcgee misses with a double jab

and Chavaski holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Chavaski changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Mcgee fights it off and pushes away nicely.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Remi Chavaski. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Mcgee's corner calls for a 1-2. Mcgee obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

Mcgee rushes Chavaski and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Mcgee digs a right hand underneath Chavaski's ribcage. Chavaski let out a lung full of air as it connected.
Chavaski swings away with an uppercut that misses.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Mcgee is defending well against a takedown attempt.
A right hand to the body from Mcgee.
Chavaski is breathing heavily.

Mcgee breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Mcgee lands a jab to Chavaski's midsection.
Chavaski keeps the fight on the outside.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Rockwell Mcgee dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!

Mcgee swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Chavaski attempts a counter takedown but Mcgee avoids it well and moves away.

Mcgee clinches with his opponent.

Mcgee pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Mcgee moves into the clinch successfully.

Mcgee manages to break the clinch.
Mcgee is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Mcgee scores with a sloppy right hand. Chavaski should have avoided that one.
A left lands for Mcgee.
Mcgee lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

Mcgee gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Chavaski struggles to land a body shot inside as Mcgee controls his hands.

Chavaski works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Mcgee keeping moving, preventing Chavaski from controlling successfully.
Mcgee is looking to stand up but Chavaski isn't so interested in that idea.

Mcgee pushes Chavaski off and gets back to his feet.
Mcgee tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Chavaski was well out of range. Poor timing from Mcgee.

Remi Chavaski overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Mcgee is trying to buck Chavaski off.

Chavaski goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Mcgee rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Chavaski's guard! Nice work there by Mcgee!
Mcgee has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Mcgee wants to stand and escape but instead Chavaski has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Mcgee wants to stand up but Chavaski is controlling him.

Chavaski slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Mcgee wants to stand up but Chavaski is controlling him.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Chavaski is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Chavaski forces his way into half guard.
Chavaski takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Chavaski prevents Mcgee from standing back up.

Mcgee is pushing off trying to get to his feet. Chavaski has hold of the leg though and he's dropped back for a heel hook… has he got it?? YES! Mcgee is tapping! This fight is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Heel Hook). Remi Chavaski!
Remi Chavaski was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
