Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Bjj Catch Wrestler (ranked 2197 p4p, 1837 weight class) and Tommy Gavin (ranked 191 p4p, 162 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 21 - 22 - 0, fighting out of London, Bjj Catch Wrestler! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 24 - 16 - 2, fighting out of Montreal, Tommy Gavin! The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Ren Mimura and Hirohito Nitta.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Catch Wrestler ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Gavin throws a lazy right hand but Catch Wrestler sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Catch Wrestler ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. and Gavin counters with a straight right hand. Catch Wrestler scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard. Catch Wrestler shoots for a takedown but Gavin saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Catch Wrestler looking to score a takedown here. Gavin is defending well but Catch Wrestler drives through and ends up in Gavin's guard. Gavin is adopting a defensive guard. Catch Wrestler is fighting to break Gavin's control of his arms but Gavin is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Gavin is pulling down on Catch Wrestler's head. It's preventing any offense from Catch Wrestler, at least for the moment.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Gavin loads up on a big right hand but Catch Wrestler slips the punch. Gavin walks into a jab. Tommy Gavin is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Catch Wrestler clinches. Catch Wrestler lands a shot to the body.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gavin lands a hook that snaps the head of Catch Wrestler backwards. Gavin misses with a punch on the inside.
Gavin's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button! Gavin breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Catch Wrestler tries to clinch and Gavin connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Catch Wrestler takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. Catch Wrestler fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Gavin connects with an inside leg kick. Catch Wrestler misses with a takedown attempt and Catch Wrestler takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Catch Wrestler shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Gavin's guard. Catch Wrestler postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Gavin has his hands on Catch Wrestler's head, controlling the position. Catch Wrestler postures up in Gavin's guard and throws a big left but Gavin blocks it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Gavin holds on and takes a little breather. Catch Wrestler distracts Gavin with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Catch Wrestler wants to control from the top but Gavin keeps moving. Catch Wrestler will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Catch Wrestler postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Gavin seems keen to control Catch Wrestler's posture. Gavin is trying to keep Catch Wrestler in close.

That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Gavin pulls Catch Wrestler in to control the position. Gavin is continuing to stall. Catch Wrestler distracts Gavin with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Gavin looking to hit a scissor sweep but Catch Wrestler is one step ahead there. Gavin is trying to control the position but Catch Wrestler postures up. Catch Wrestler with a nice head shot there. Catch Wrestler cracks Gavin with a solid left hand. Catch Wrestler sitting in guard, not really doing much. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Bjj Catch Wrestler will probably get the nod. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Catch Wrestler avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Gavin misses with an uppercut. Catch Wrestler saw that one coming. A big left from Catch Wrestler misses. Gavin throws an overhand right that lands on Catch Wrestler's shoulder, as Catch Wrestler tries to avoid the shot. Catch Wrestler gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. Catch Wrestler looking to score a takedown here. Gavin is defending well but Catch Wrestler drives through and ends up in Gavin's guard. Catch Wrestler wants to pass the guard but Gavin is keeping the position. Gavin is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gavin utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Bjj Catch Wrestler overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Gavin avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Gavin manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Catch Wrestler manages to get himself to full guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Gavin trying to control but Catch Wrestler is working from the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Catch Wrestler looking to hit a scissor sweep but Gavin is one step ahead there.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. Nice uppercut lands for Gavin. That snapped Catch Wrestler's head back.
Catch Wrestler slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Gavin displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Catch Wrestler. Tommy Gavin seems to be getting the better of the standup. Gavin connects with the punch. Gavin feints and then cracks Catch Wrestler's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Catch Wrestler down. Catch Wrestler manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Gavin on his heels. He'll look to pass Gavin's guard now, I'm sure. Gavin kicks Catch Wrestler off and gets to his feet. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! The fighters circling - Gavin throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Gavin thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Catch Wrestler if he has to take too many more of those.
Catch Wrestler has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Gavin. A lazy left from Gavin finds it's target. Gavin throws a hook to the side of Catch Wrestler's head but Catch Wrestler sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Catch Wrestler misses with a left hand letting Gavin counter with a right hand. Catch Wrestler throws a right and a left that both miss. Bjj Catch Wrestler is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Gavin misses with a straight left. Catch Wrestler misses with a takedown and Gavin counters with a right hand to the body. Catch Wrestler walks into a straight right hand from Gavin. Gavin gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Catch Wrestler. Bjj Catch Wrestler seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Catch Wrestler looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Gavin has his hands clasped together around Catch Wrestler's back. He's all about the action. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Tommy Gavin showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round! A chopping leg kick lands by Gavin. Catch Wrestler connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. Catch Wrestler throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Gavin. Catch Wrestler fails with a takedown attempt. Catch Wrestler on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Gavin. Gavin obviously looking to wear him down.

Gavin throws a half hearted mid kick. Catch Wrestler shoots for a double leg takedown but Gavin sprawls well. He's pushed Catch Wrestler's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gavin throws a leg kick which misses Catch Wrestler's front leg but catches the back leg as Catch Wrestler tries to avoid it. Catch Wrestler on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Gavin. Gavin obviously looking to wear him down.
Gavin connects with a single shot there. Catch Wrestler has a takedown stuffed. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bjj Catch Wrestler. That's going to take a lot out of him. Catch Wrestler with a poor takedown and Gavin connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Catch Wrestler ducks under a wild hook from Gavin. Gavin bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Catch Wrestler's head backwards. Catch Wrestler uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Gavin. A head kick by Gavin misses and Catch Wrestler counters with a stiff right hand. Catch Wrestler fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Catch Wrestler takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

Catch Wrestler tries to grapple but his opponent circles letting Gavin counter with a right hand. Catch Wrestler shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Gavin as he avoids it easily. Gavin scores with a slapping inside leg kick. Gavin has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Catch Wrestler takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Catch Wrestler shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Gavin as he avoids it easily. Good exchange - Gavin coming out on top. Catch Wrestler ducks under a wild hook from Gavin. Catch Wrestler changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit. Gavin throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Catch Wrestler shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. Gavin misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Catch Wrestler.

and Catch Wrestler counters with a nice body shot. Gavin connects with a single shot there. Catch Wrestler looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that. Catch Wrestler blocks a jab. Gavin lands a lovely overhand right. Gavin takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Catch Wrestler is rocked! Catch Wrestler misses with a takedown and Gavin counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Oh Catch Wrestler is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Gavin lands an overhand right. Gavin scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent. Gavin walks forward and throws a big overhand right! Catch Wrestler drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes! Gavin swarms on him with more punches until the referee wrestles him away from Catch Wrestler's unconscious body! Wow, that was brutal!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:17 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Tommy Gavin! A less than humble Tommy Gavin misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
