PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dick Niaz (ranked 333 p4p, 992 weight class) and Senger Line (ranked 49 p4p, 140 weight class). Line has chosen For Heavy Metal we will die! as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Senger Line!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, Paul Tew and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Niaz tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Line paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Niaz is controlling the pace.
Line is trying to get back to full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Niaz is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Line defends it well.
Line wants to get back to full guard but Niaz has passed into side control.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Niaz goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Line rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Niaz's guard! Nice work there by Line!

Line got a little sloppy there for a moment and Niaz has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Line has managed to get both his arms back between Niaz's legs - danger averted.

Line distracts Niaz with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Niaz isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Line stacks Niaz on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Line!

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

We've been hearing good reports from Niaz's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

That was a close round but Dick Niaz did the better work so I'd imagine he'll take it.

Niaz is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Line defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.

A close fourth round but Senger Line will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Niaz is trying hard to land a takedown here. Line sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

It looks like Dick Niaz has been cut.
Niaz tries to clinch there but Line circles away.

Line feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Niaz sprawling to the canvas! Niaz rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Line finish him?!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Niaz tries to close the distance and clinch up but Line swats him away and circles back towards the center.
A little jabbing left from Line on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Crack! Line connects with the perfect overhand right and Niaz falls face first to the canvas. Timbeeeeeeeer! Beautiful knockout for Line!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:55 of round 5, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Senger Line!
Senger Line is the new lightweight champion!
After winning the bout, Senger Line thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
