PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Darren Dixon (ranked 190 p4p, 373 weight class) and Tekashi Six Nine (ranked 17 p4p, 32 weight class). Six Nine has chosen KIKA - Tekashi 6ix9ine as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Tekashi Six Nine told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 33 - 17 - 2, fighting out of Amsterdam, Darren Dixon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tekashi Six Nine !
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dixon takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Dixon defending well as Six Nine loads up on a big left hand.
Dixon attempts a counter takedown but Six Nine avoids it well and moves away.
A good leg kick by Six Nine .
Dixon uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Six Nine .
Six Nine tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Dixon was well out of range. Poor timing from Six Nine .
Six Nine throws a lazy right hand but Dixon sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Dixon tries to counter with a takedown but Six Nine is quick to defend against it.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Dixon feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Dixon shoots in looking for a takedown but Six Nine manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Dixon's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Tekashi Six Nine showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Dixon moves forwards but Six Nine connects with a nice, crisp jab.

Six Nine dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Dixon. That did some damage!
