Hackett has chosen Foe Tha Love of Money as his entrance music. Both fighters really staring each other down here, as James Hackett enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 23 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Richard Morrison!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 25 - 14 - 1, fighting out of London, James Hackett!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Shigeki Sano and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hackett lands a right hook to the body.
Hackett wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

Hackett shoots in and bounces Morrison off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Hackett postures up in Morrison's guard and throws a big left but Morrison blocks it.
Hackett passes Morrison's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Morrison trying to control from the bottom.
Morrison keeps control of the position for the meantime.
Hackett trying to control the action but Morrison is working from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hackett is working for a submission of some sort.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Morrison is looking to improve his position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hackett is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Morrison sees it coming and defends easily.

Hackett seems to be looking for submissions.
Morrison is trying is best to control the position here.
Hackett stalling.
Morrison is trying to get back to full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Morrison is refusing to be controlled, as Hackett sits in half guard.

Hackett is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Hackett is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Hackett looking for a submission but Morrison manages to get full guard, putting an end to that submission attempt.
Morrison pulls Hackett in to control the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hackett wants to pass the guard but Morrison is keeping the position.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Hackett looking to sit in guard and control but Morrison gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Hackett wants to sweep but no luck.

Hackett has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Morrison can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Hackett working for a triangle but Morrison defends it easily.

Hackett working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Morrison doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Morrison manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Morrison not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Morrison won't allow Hackett to sweep him here.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Hackett holds on and takes a little breather.
Hackett looking to hit a scissor sweep but Morrison is one step ahead there.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Morrison stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hackett swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Morrison is sitting in close to Hackett's body. Hackett has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Morrison is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Morrison is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Hackett.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). James Hackett!
An out of breath James Hackett thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
