PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bob Bronte (ranked 710 p4p, 580 weight class) and Svend Thorsby (ranked 50 p4p, 26 weight class). Bronte comes to the cage accompanied by Buffalo Charge by Dub Phizix and Strategy. Svend Thorsby will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Bob Bronte!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 12 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Svend Thorsby!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Richard Clark and James Glass.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thorsby lands a body shot.
Thorsby digs a good body shot into Bronte's ribs.
Bronte definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Bronte scores with a jab to the body.
Bronte misses with a hook. Thorsby ducked under it nicely.
A lazy left from Thorsby finds it's target.
Jab, jab by Bronte - just one landing.
Thorsby pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Thorsby throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Bronte stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Bronte takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Bronte uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Thorsby.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Bronte is defended easily by Thorsby.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Thorsby throws a leg kick but Bronte sees it coming and moves out of range.
Bronte drops down looking for a counter takedown but Thorsby sprawls and moves away.
Thorsby walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Bronte checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Thorsby lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Bronte ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Thorsby misses with a body shot.
Bronte tries to counter with a takedown but Thorsby is quick to defend against it.
Thorsby scores with a sloppy right hand. Bronte should have avoided that one.
Bronte takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Bronte takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.
Bronte throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Thorsby stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Thorsby lands with a slapping head kick.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Thorsby scores with a shot to the body.
Bronte moves away from the strike by Thorsby.
A shot to the body from Bronte misses
and Thorsby connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Thorsby misses with a lunging right hand
and Bronte counters with a straight right hand.

It looks like Svend Thorsby has been cut.
Thorsby is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Bronte rather than just go for the knockout.
Bronte blocks a jab.

and Thorsby counters with a nice uppercut.
Thorsby keeps the fight on the outside.
It seemed like Thorsby was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Bronte fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Thorsby manages to avoid it.
Bronte swings widly with a right hand
and Thorsby makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Bronte dives in and scores a takedown into Thorsby's guard.
Bronte is standing up over Thorsby. Thorsby looks to escape but Bronte dives into side control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Bronte wants to lay and pray for a moment but Thorsby keeps working.
Thorsby is trying to control Bronte's posture but Bronte avoids it.

Bronte tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Bronte has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Bronte has hold of Thorsby's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Thorsby seems comfortable defending it but Bronte has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Thorsby is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Thorsby is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Bronte couldn't care less - he's delighted!
