PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Doko Dokov (ranked 1531 p4p, 2864 weight class) and Jackie Chan (ranked 217 p4p, 349 weight class). Doko Dokov had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 23 - 39 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Doko Dokov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jackie Chan!
The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Saam Ante and Radbod Blank.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No joy there for Dokov, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Chan blocks the body kick.

Dokov feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Chan is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Dokov dives into side control.

Chan tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Dokov looks up at the clock and then as Chan takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Dokov smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Dokov has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
You can see the frustration on Chan's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Chan is rocked!

Dokov decides to stand back up. Dokov steps back and let's Chan get back to his feet.
Chan is still on wobbly legs! Can Dokov finish him?

Chan shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Dokov manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Dokov has his feet on Chan's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Dokov sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Chan seems to have recovered his senses.

Dokov moves into the clinch successfully.

Dokov escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Dokov rushes Chan and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Chan avoids a wild elbow strike from Dokov.
Chan wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Dokov lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.

It looks like Jackie Chan has been cut.

Chan gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Dokov manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Dokov jumps guard and drags Chan to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Chan wants to control from the top but Dokov keeps moving.

Dokov pushes Chan off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Dokov tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Chan swivels and escapes.

Chan tries to keep at a distance but Dokov has taken the fight into the clinch.

Chan is trying to trip Dokov. He has hold of a leg but Dokov is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Chan persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Dokov has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Chan is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.

Chan is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Dokov can't fight it off and eventually Chan manages to take the fight to the floor. Dokov looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Dokov has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Chan has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Chan tries to circle away but Dokov has him pinned against the cage.

Dokov is leaning against Chan and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Chan blocks an elbow strike from Dokov.
Dokov lands a left hand that snaps the head of Chan backwards.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Dokov creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Dokov cracks Chan with a nice body shot.

Dokov has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Chan uses from the top position.
Dokov wants to stand and escape but Chan is having none of it.

Dokov has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Chan can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Chan lands a couple of decent looking shots.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Doko Dokov dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Jackie Chan's cut.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Dokov doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Chan counters with a nice leg kick.

Dokov has Chan up against the cage in a clinch.
Dokov lands a left hand.
Chan's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!

Chan gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.

Dokov pushes Chan off and gets back to his feet.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Dokov closes the distance and clinches.

Chan pulls guard.
Chan is trying to control the position from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Chan is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Dokov gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Dokov shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Chan manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Dokov stands and throws Chan's legs to the side, diving into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Chan is trying to control Dokov's posture but Dokov avoids it.

Dokov looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Dokov stands up.

Dokov pushes Chan up against the cage in a clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Dokov lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.

Dokov pulls guard successfully.

Dokov tries to strike from the bottom.

Chan has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Dokov to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Chan is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Dokov pulls down on the head and he's put Chan to sleep! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Doko Dokov!
A very excited looking Doko Dokov made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
