Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Make Makkonen (ranked 427 p4p, 1817 weight class) and JD Drake (ranked 23 p4p, 90 weight class). Makkonen comes to the cage accompanied by Epic Sax Guy - time to SMESH!. Drake has chosen Born in the USA by - Bruce Springstein as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the super heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Make Makkonen!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, JD Drake!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Anni Minnemäki and Johanna Lukiainen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Drake lands a really nice looking cross but Makkonen seems unphased.

It looks like Make Makkonen has been cut.
Drake lands a jab to the head.
Makkonen avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Makkonen tries to counter with a takedown but Drake is quick to defend against it.
Drake throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Drake misses with a left hand

and Makkonen counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Drake!
Drake tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Makkonen wants to control but Drake is keeping him busy.
Makkonen working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Drake can do anything to dispel that myth.

Drake seems a little lost for a moment, as Makkonen dominates the positioning.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Drake takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.

Drake is not content to let Makkonen control the position.
Makkonen lands some shots froms side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Makkonen trying to control the action but Drake is working from the bottom.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Makkonen's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Drake is not in a great position here, taking some shots.

It looks like JD Drake has been cut.

Makkonen has hold of Drake's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Drake seems comfortable defending it but Makkonen has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Drake is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Drake is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Makkonen couldn't care less - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:22 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Make Makkonen!

Post fight, Make Makkonen took to the microphone: 'I wanted to stand and bang with this iron fist but mostly i just wanted smash his gigantic head to canvas and enjoy while doing that.'.
JD Drake was interviewed post fight and said 'It's Miller Time'.
