Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Rokken Roll (ranked 283 p4p, 643 weight class) and Sergej Kersikov (ranked 47 p4p, 86 weight class). Kersikov has chosen Re-Style - I'm Alive as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Rokken Roll!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sergej Kersikov!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Donald Grub and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kersikov pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Kersikov fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Roll.
Kersikov lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Roll at a distance.
We've been hearing reports that Roll has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Roll misses with an uppercut.
Kersikov takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Kersikov lands with a thumping leg kick.
Roll shoots for a double leg takedown but Kersikov sprawls well. He's pushed Roll's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Roll throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Roll lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Roll tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Kersikov manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Roll loads up on a big right hand but Kersikov slips the punch.
Roll pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Kersikov tries to land a front kick but Roll steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Roll lands with a thumping leg kick.
Roll misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Kersikov swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
A bone on bone clash there as Kersikov blocks the leg kick.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Roll takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

Kersikov moves out of range as Roll strikes.
Roll on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.

Roll drives through and clinches with Kersikov against the cage.
Kersikov stalls.
Kersikov is pushing Roll up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Roll lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Kersikov backwards.
Kersikov lands with a right to the head.
A left hand lands to the body for Roll.
A left hand lands to the body for Roll.

Roll has clasped his hands together around Kersikov's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Kersikov tries to bench press Roll off him but Roll keeps the position.

Roll is trying to get an arm triangle but Kersikov is defending well.

Kersikov tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Roll wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kersikov keeps working.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kersikov is looking for a sweep.

Roll is looking to take a break and control but Kersikov is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Kersikov is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Roll goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Kersikov has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Roll but great work by Kersikov.
Kersikov tries to advance to mount but Roll denies him.

Roll sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Kersikov prevents Roll from improving his position.
Roll manages to get to full guard.
Kersikov slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Kersikov wants to control from the top but Roll keeps moving.
Kersikov postures up.
Kersikov wants to stand but Roll is controlling his posture from full guard.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Sergej Kersikov will probably get the nod.
That's time! Roll's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kersikov chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Roll can pounce on him.
Kersikov throws a hook to the side of Roll's head but Roll sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Good exchange - Roll coming out on top.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Roll checks a leg kick.
Roll misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Kersikov.
Roll fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Kersikov looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Roll wants to clinch up but Kersikov keeps it at a distance.
Kersikov throws a low kick but Roll avoids it.
Roll keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Kersikov.
Kersikov blocks a jab.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Kersikov! But no joy.
Roll scoring well with a low kick there.
Roll misses with a straight left.
Some wild striking there from Roll.
The fighters circling - Kersikov throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
A telegraphed right hand from Roll misses the target.

Kersikov gets tackled into the cage by Roll. Roll maintains the clinch.
Roll lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.

Roll swings wildly with an uppercut but Kersikov uses good head movement to avoid it.
Kersikov lands a body punch.
Kersikov gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Roll.

Roll's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Kersikov keeps the fight on the outside.
Roll blocks a head kick by Kersikov.
Roll thumps Kersikov with a low kick.
Roll tries a low kick but Kersikov avoids it.
Roll throws a leg kick that is checked
and Roll takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Roll swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Kersikov scores with a nice head shot.
Roll tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Kersikov was well out of range. Poor timing from Roll.
Kersikov finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.

Kersikov lands with a hook. Roll tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Roll throws a leg kick that misses.
A nice side step and Kersikov releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
Kersikov is looking to chop away at Roll's legs.
Roll changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.

Kersikov motions for Roll to come forward. Kersikov throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.

Kersikov turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.

Roll walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Rokken Roll seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Roll fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Kersikov, pushing him back against the cage.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Kersikov digs a right hand underneath Roll's ribcage. Roll let out a lung full of air as it connected.

Kersikov fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Roll has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters, thinking about a standup.
Kersikov felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Kersikov has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Roll is working away from the top position though.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Roll makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Roll blocks an uppercut.
Kersikov gets underhooks to prevent Roll's takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rokken Roll. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Come on Kersikov - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Roll misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Kersikov can't find room to land a body shot as Roll controls the action.
