Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jake Reaper (ranked 1405 p4p, 22027 weight class) and Bernie Sanders (ranked 96 p4p, 285 weight class). Sanders has chosen Shooter Gang as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jake Reaper!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Bernie Sanders!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, James Atkins and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sanders tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Reaper scores with a crisp jab that stopped Sanders in his tracks.

Sanders gets the takedown into side control.
Reaper tries to buck Sanders off but Sanders is having none of it.
Reaper struggling a bit here.
Reaper's coaches at Berloga have been working on his defensive grappling in preparation for this fight so let's see if he can get out of this tricky position.
Reaper is looking to regain half guard here but Sanders keeps moving and retains side control.
Sloppy strikes there by Sanders.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Sanders goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Reaper has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Sanders but great work by Reaper.

Reaper really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Reaper's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Sanders slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.

Sanders has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Reaper.
Reaper connects with an inside leg kick.

Sanders tries a quick counter leg kick but Reaper is wise to it.
That kick from Reaper tenderised Sanders's leg. Sanders is trying to keep his angry face on.

Sanders closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Sanders is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Reaper is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Sanders throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.

Sanders is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Reaper has escaped the position, nice work there.
Sanders lands a few punches from side control.

Reaper tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Sanders wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Sanders tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Sanders has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Sanders wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Reaper, who protects the arm well.
Sanders wants to take a breather but Reaper manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Sanders.

Sanders cracks Reaper with a solid left hand.
Sanders has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Reaper keeping moving, preventing Sanders from controlling successfully.
Reaper is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Sanders postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Sanders throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Reaper works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Sanders tries to free his leg and advance position but Reaper is retaining full guard.
Reaper manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Sanders manages to get himself to full guard.

Bernie Sanders showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! And we move into the final round!

Reaper uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Sanders has time to react.

Sanders fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Sanders tries for a takedown but Reaper sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Reaper swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Reaper scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

Reaper tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Sanders was well out of range. Poor timing from Reaper.
Sanders only half commits to the counter leg kick.

Reaper is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.

Reaper is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Reaper looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.

Good standup being displayed there by Reaper as he connects with a hook.

Reaper works the jab nicely.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Sanders bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Reaper is looking to regain half guard here but Sanders keeps moving and retains side control.
Reaper is not content to let Sanders control the position.
The strikes coming from Sanders are missing the target in this wave of attacks.

Sanders is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Reaper knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Sanders wants to lay and pray for a moment but Reaper keeps working.

The ground and pound from Sanders seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

Sanders working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Sanders scores with a couple of short elbows.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Sanders wants to control but Reaper is keeping him busy.
Reaper is trying to control Sanders's posture but Sanders avoids it.
Sanders remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Reaper regains half guard, as Sanders was trying to land strikes.
