Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Sparky Anderson (ranked 887 p4p, 1390 weight class) and Alexei Brovarnik (ranked 114 p4p, 180 weight class). Anderson comes to the cage accompanied by Pick up man. Brovarnik has chosen Colours - DJ Mind X as his entrance music. Alexei Brovarnik told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 22 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Sparky Anderson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 14 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Alexei Brovarnik! The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Jonathan Paton and Joseph Jones.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nice defenses there by Brovarnik. Anderson looking to score a takedown here. Brovarnik is defending well but Anderson drives through and ends up in Brovarnik's guard. Anderson sitting in guard, not really doing much. Anderson has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Anderson sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Brovarnik's guard. Anderson stalling. Brovarnik actively working from the bottom here. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Anderson controlling the action here. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Anderson moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from Brovarnik. Anderson remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. Brovarnik wants to control but Anderson postures up. Anderson taking a breather here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Anderson is looking to take a break and control but Brovarnik is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Anderson tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Brovarnik tries to get back to half guard but can't. Brovarnik looking for a sweep but Anderson has passed into full mount! Oh no! Brovarnik wants to control but Anderson is having none of it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Brovarnik wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back. Brovarnik defending nicely against the rear naked choke attempt.

That's four minutes gone in the round. A bit of a pause in the action here. Anderson controlling the positon. Anderson keeps control of the position as Brovarnik tries to break free.
Anderson biding his time, controlling Brovarnik. Brovarnik trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Brovarnik might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Anderson haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Brovarnik rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.

Sparky Anderson dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Brovarnik thows a left - swing and a miss! Brovarnik takes a shot right to the bread basket. Nice straight punches there by Brovarnik. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Brovarnik. Anderson fails with a takedown attempt. Brovarnik fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Anderson manages to avoid it. As Brovarnik looks to move away, Anderson throws a big counter combo but Brovarnik just gets out of the way. Anderson circles away from the clinch attempt.
Brovarnik fails in his attempt to clinch. Anderson is looking for a counter combo. Sparky Anderson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Anderson dives in and scores a takedown into Brovarnik's guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Anderson wants to control from the top but Brovarnik keeps moving. Brovarnik is looking for a triangle but Anderson pushes his legs off easily.

That's one minute gone in the round. Anderson trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Brovarnik looking for a guillotine here but Anderson defends easily.
Sparky Anderson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Anderson trying to control the position from guard on top but Brovarnik is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Anderson got a little sloppy there for a moment and Brovarnik has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Anderson has managed to get both his arms back between Brovarnik's legs - danger averted. Anderson is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Brovarnik can do to turn this around? Brovarnik can't keep his opponent in guard - Anderson advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Anderson controlling the action here. Brovarnik is trying to control but can't.
Brovarnik is looking to get back to full guard here but Anderson has managed to pass to side control instead. You can see the frustration on Brovarnik's face as Anderson controls the position. Anderson gets to mount! Brovarnik was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly. Brovarnik is looking to get to half guard. Brovarnik tries to improve his position but Anderson has taken his back! Anderson has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will Brovarnik tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! Anderson pushes Brovarnik away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:18 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Sparky Anderson! After winning the bout, Sparky Anderson thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
