PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Leon Lentz (ranked 861 p4p, 1639 weight class) and Moe Lester (ranked 123 p4p, 220 weight class). Lester comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Get Back - Ludacris kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 27 - 14 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Leon Lentz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 10 - 1, fighting out of London, Moe Lester!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Daniel Bishop and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lester's jab looks to have found its range, popping Lentz under the eye.
Lentz scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Lester doesn't seem bothered though.
Lester throws a poor cross that misses
and Lentz counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Lentz slips under a jab from Lester.
Lester throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Lentz sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Lester walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Lentz pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Lentz fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Lester looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
A telegraphed right hand from Lester misses the target.
Lentz misses with a few strikes there.
Lester lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Lentz at a distance.
Lester looks to score with a jab to the body but Lentz is just out of range.

Lentz closes the distance and pushes Lester back into the cage.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Lentz escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Lester misses with a takedown
and Lentz counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Lester looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Lentz loads up on a big right hand but Lester slips the punch.
Lester connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.

Lester jabs Lentz right on the nose. Lentz blinks but takes it well.
Lester lands with an overhand left.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Lentz enables Lester to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Lentz manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Lester has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Lester postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Lester shoots in for a double leg but Lentz sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Lentz throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Lester on the side of the head.

Lester lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Donk. Lester catches Lentz right on the button with a cross.

A close round but Moe Lester will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

It looks like Lentz has been trying to sharpen up his punching technique, as it looks crisper than last time we saw him.

Lester uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Lentz.

Lester might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Lentz throws a sloppy head kick and Lester moves out of range easily.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Some bone on bone action there as Lester checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Lentz leaves Lester with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

That was a close second round but I would say that Leon Lentz will probably get the nod.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Lentz is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
