PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Wang Dong (ranked 1219 p4p, 574 weight class) and White Goodman (ranked 114 p4p, 48 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Wang Dong!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, White Goodman!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Steve Montenegro and Dean Styles.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dong misses with a right hand

and Goodman counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Goodman lands strikes from half guard.
Goodman looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Dong wants to get back to full guard.
Dong is pressing down on Goodman's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Dong not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Dong has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Goodman postures up and lands a big shot to Dong's brow.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Dong might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Dong is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Goodman stays in close to Dong's body and controls the position.
Goodman wants to control from the top but Dong keeps moving.
Dong looking to hit a scissor sweep but Goodman is one step ahead there.

Goodman got a little sloppy there for a moment and Dong has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Goodman has managed to get both his arms back between Dong's legs - danger averted.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Goodman stands up over Dong, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Goodman is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Dong is just riding it out for now. Goodman eventually gives up the hold.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

A decent looking body kick lands there for Dong.
Dong checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.

Goodman looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Goodman catches Dong with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Goodman accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Dong has his foot on Goodman's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Goodman works his way back into a safe position though.
Dong has momentary wrist control but Goodman slips an elbow through the middle.

Dong escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Goodman gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Goodman wants to control from the top but Dong keeps moving.

Goodman might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Dong haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Dong has momentary wrist control but Goodman slips an elbow through the middle.

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

White Goodman showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Goodman changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Dong shoots in but no luck this time.
Dong lands a jab to the head.
Goodman scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Goodman has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Dong.
Goodman lands a nice shot to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Goodman takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Dong shoots for a double leg takedown but Goodman sprawls well. He's pushed Dong's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Goodman is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.

Goodman is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.

Goodman throws a low kick but Dong avoids it.
Dong throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Goodman let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.
Goodman lands a lovely overhand right.
Goodman swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Goodman scores with a hook.
Oh Dong is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

and Goodman counters with a double leg. Dong bangs his head on the mat and seems to be on queer street here... Goodman follows up with punches and the ref steps in to end the fight! It was the slam that caused all the problems.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:49 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Slam). White Goodman!
White Goodman looked relieved post fight as he said the following; 'Losing is a genetic disorder much like baldness or necrophilia and its only your fault if you don't hate yourself enough to do something about it! Join Globo Gym !!'.
