PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lieutenant Nog (ranked 1470 p4p, 2271 weight class) and Ulysses Corbin (ranked 233 p4p, 353 weight class). Nog comes to the cage accompanied by House of Pain - Put on Your Shit Kickers. The key to victory for Lieutenant Nog has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Lieutenant Nog!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ulysses Corbin!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, William Peck and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Corbin takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Ulysses Corbin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nog leaves Corbin with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
It looked like Nog wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Corbin shoots for a takedown but Nog saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Nog tries to work over Corbin's front leg with a kick but Corbin checks it.
Corbin drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Nog defends it well.
Nog gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Corbin swings widly with a right hand
and Nog counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Corbin moves out of range of the strikes.

Corbin shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Nog is trying to defend but Corbin finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Nog kicks off Corbin and gets to his feet.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Nog slips under a jab from Corbin.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Corbin lands with a cross.
Corbin throws the left hand but Nog avoids the punch easily.
Nog scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Corbin slips a straight right by Nog.
A slow jab from Corbin misses its intended target.
Corbin pushing out the jab but it's not landing.

Corbin decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Nog keeping control of the position.
Corbin looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Corbin not landing any meaningful shots this time.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Nog is looking to improve his position.
Nog on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Nog tries to get out of the position.

Corbin is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Nog doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Corbin.
Nog manages to get to full guard.
Corbin throwing strikes from guard but Nog blocks nicely.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Corbin scoring with some ground and pound.
Corbin trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Corbin trying to control the position from guard on top but Nog is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Corbin trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Corbin working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Corbin throwing strikes but missing.
Corbin passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Corbin in side control lands a decent elbow.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here.
You can see the frustration on Nog's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Nog is looking for a sweep.
Nog tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Corbin presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
Nog is squirming around, avoiding Corbin's attempts to control the action.
Nog wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Corbin.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Ulysses Corbin dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Corbin takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Nog scores with a nice strike.
Nog swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Corbin lands a head shot.
Nog dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Corbin gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Nog connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

It looks like Ulysses Corbin has been cut.
Lieutenant Nog is winning the standup battle so far.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Nog drops Corbin with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Corbin looks back up at him and smiles so Nog waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.

Corbin is rocked!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Corbin is still on wobbly legs! Can Nog finish him?
A solid leg kick lands there for Nog.
Nog avoids the body shot from Corbin.
Corbin seems to have recovered his senses.

That's one minute gone in the round.
A head kick misses from Nog.
Corbin appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.
Corbin throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Nog counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Nog moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.

Nog feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Corbin sprawling to the canvas! Corbin rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Nog finish him?!
Corbin is wiping some vaseline out of his eye. Nog doesn't give a rats ass about fair play and cracks him with a massive hook to the side of the head! Corbin crumples to the floor out cold! The cornerman is going to be in Corbin's bad books for that mishap!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:28 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Lieutenant Nog!
A relieved looking Lieutenant Nog thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
