Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Maksim Taranin (ranked 1810 p4p, 641 weight class) and Rickson Caceres (ranked 245 p4p, 91 weight class). Maksim Taranin could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Rickson Caceres's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Maksim Taranin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Rickson Caceres!
The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Dmitry Maklakov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Caceres gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Taranin has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Caceres avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Caceres's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Taranin throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Caceres was covering up waiting for the punch and Taranin finishes the takedown easily into guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Taranin thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Caceres felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Caceres is staying active underneath Taranin, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Taranin is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Caceres looks calm but he's in trouble here. Taranin gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Caceres is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Taranin lets go of the hold and Caceres can pop his arm back in it's socket.
