Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between David Choke (ranked 4 p4p, 16 weight class) and Randy Randleman (ranked 1 p4p, 5 weight class). Randleman comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Bloodhound Gang - Bad Touch kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 27 - 12 - 1, fighting out of London, David Choke! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 34 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Randy Randleman! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Jack Bonds and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Choke throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Randleman's waist but Randleman gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Choke off to one side. Choke misses with a takedown and Randleman counters with a left and a right that stings Choke. Choke darts in and clinches Randleman up against the cage. A short body shot lands from Randleman as the two fighters clinch.
Randleman is defending well against a takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for David Choke. That's going to take a lot out of him. Randleman lands a nice uppercut. Randleman lands a body punch. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Choke is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Randleman gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Choke drops down looking for an ankle pick but Randleman pulls his leg out and moves away.

That's one minute gone in the round. Choke tries to clinch but fails miserably and Randleman counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Randleman throws a body shot but no joy. Randleman misses with a low kick. Choke tries to counter with a takedown but Randleman is quick to defend against it. Choke looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Choke takes a shot right to the bread basket. Randleman throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Choke sees it coming and avoids it easily. A cross from Randleman lands. A looping hook to the body misses from Randleman. Choke does a little dance to reset his feet. Randleman has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A momentary lapse in concentration from Randleman enables Choke to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Randleman manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Choke in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Choke with a flurry of punches that miss. Randleman really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Choke. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Choke looking for a guillotine here but Randleman defends easily.
Choke has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Choke has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Randleman can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Randleman slips nicely into half guard, despite the strikes coming from Choke.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Choke slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Choke is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Choke wants to sweep here but Randleman controlling him for the moment. Choke escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Randleman gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Choke keeping moving, preventing Randleman from controlling successfully. Choke is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Choke doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Randleman slips nicely into half guard. Randleman controlling the action here. Choke manages to get to full guard.
Choke has his foot on Randleman's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Randleman works his way back into a safe position though. Choke working for submissions but it's allowed Randleman to get to half guard.

Choke half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range. Randleman slaps away a takedown attempt from Choke, before circling back to the center of the mat. And an attempted straight right on the counter from Randleman! But no joy. Choke gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Randleman counters with a nice uppercut. Randleman misses with a hook. Choke ducked under it nicely. Choke changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit. Choke darts in looking for a takedown but Randleman gets double underhooks and turns Choke into the cage. Despite the aggression on Randleman's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter. Randleman breaks the clinch.
No luck for Choke with that takedown attempt. Randleman misses with a leg kick so Choke counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Choke accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Choke wants to pass the guard but Randleman is keeping the position. Randleman pulls Choke in to control the position. Choke pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Randleman is keeping the position for now. Choke has gone for a leg lock! Randleman slips out almost immediately though and dives into Choke's guard.
Choke looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Randleman slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Choke is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Randleman is aware though and is defending well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Choke is on top in guard.
Choke drops back, looking for a kneebar! Randleman looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Randleman looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Randleman! Randleman takes a little break here. Choke wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well. Choke manages to get back to half guard. Choke striking from the bottom. Choke looking for submissions off his back. Choke strikes from the bottom but Randleman passes into mount!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Randleman takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Choke can't escape the position.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Choke is working hard here to advance position. Randleman content just to control the position here. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Randy Randleman showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Choke changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Randleman tries to avoid it but Choke manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Randleman to the ground. Randleman escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Choke walks into a stiff left hand from Randleman. Randleman works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance. Choke moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. Randleman thows a left - swing and a miss! We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Choke's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Randleman connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Choke scrambles back to his feet. Choke takes the fight into the clinch. Choke is looking for a takedown.

A big left from Randleman misses. Choke fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Randleman flicks out a counter leg kick but Choke steps away. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Randleman with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

David Choke overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Choke is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Randleman regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Choke. Choke trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Randleman is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Choke throws a strike but Randleman rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Choke isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Randleman stacks Choke on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Randleman! Choke gets back to half guard.

He'll be looking to tighten that up but Randleman can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Choke has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Randleman is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Choke. Randleman got a little sloppy there for a moment and Choke has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Randleman has managed to get both his arms back between Choke's legs - danger averted. Choke is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Randleman defends well. David Choke has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Choke looking for subs off his back but Randleman has passed one foot through into half guard.
