PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kjetil Olsen (ranked 1 p4p, 57 weight class) and Bugsy Seigel (ranked 1 p4p, 8 weight class). Olsen comes to the cage accompanied by Tubthumping by Chumbawamba. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 29 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kjetil Olsen!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 7 - 1, fighting out of New York, Bugsy Seigel!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Seigel misses with a wild body shot.
Olsen quickly followed up with a counter body kick but doesn't connect.
Seigel chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Olsen has been working on his boxing with his coaches at House of 1000 Corpses in the buildup to the fight.
Olsen gets off balance looking for a body kick
and Seigel makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Olsen really felt that one!
Seigel wants to land a leg kick but Olsen is out of range.
Seigel steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Olsen. That one must have hurt.
Olsen moves out of range of the body kick from Seigel.
Olsen swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Olsen jabs at Seigel's body.
Seigel misses with a head kick.
Bugsy Seigel seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Olsen misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Seigel.
Olsen tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Seigel ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Olsen fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Seigel manages to avoid it.
Seigel throws a body kick that misses.
Olsen blocks the body kick.
Olsen scores with the left hand. Seigel knows he should have avoided that one.

It looks like Bugsy Seigel has been cut.
Olsen really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Olsen throws a jab when Seigel was well out of range.
Seigel replies with a solid counter kick to the body but Olsen blocks it well.
Olsen slips under a jab from Seigel.
And Olsen counters with a quick kick to the body but Seigel blocks it.
Olsen throws a right hand that misses
and Seigel connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

It looks like Kjetil Olsen has been cut.
Seigel rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Olsen moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Olsen lands with a shot to the body.
Seigel fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Seigel ducks under a wild hook from Olsen.
Olsen throws a half hearted mid kick.

Seigel misses with a body shot.
An attempted straight right counter from Olsen misses the target.
Olsen bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Olsen. Seigel shrugs it off though.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Seigel throws a leg kick but Olsen checks it.
Olsen appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
Olsen tests Seigel's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Seigel misses with an uppercut
and Olsen counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Seigel throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Olsen on the side of the head.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Seigel stuns Olsen with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Olsen has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Seigel.
Seigel keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Seigel is looking to chop away at Olsen's legs.
Olsen quickly followed up with a counter body kick but doesn't connect.
Olsen looks to land a right hand but Seigel moved out of range.
Olsen throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Olsen looks to land a left hand but Seigel moved out of range nicely.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Kjetil Olsen will probably get the nod.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
That's time! Back to the action!

Seigel changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Seigel throws a head kick that misses
and Olsen counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
We are yet to see a takedown attempt from Seigel in the fight. On paper you would think he is the more dominant ground fighter so let's see if these unusual tactics pay off.
Seigel throws a body punch but Olsen moves out of range.
Seigel throws a looping overhand right but Olsen ducks down to avoid it.
Nice cross by Olsen.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Olsen throws a body kick, spinning off balance
letting Seigel counter with a right hand.
Seigel scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Seigel throws a body kick that misses.

Olsen scores with a decent looking hook.
Olsen throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Seigel feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Olsen sprawling to the canvas! Olsen rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Seigel finish him?!
Seigel ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Olsen moves away.
A nice leg kick lands there from Seigel.
Seigel throws out a powerful jab.

Olsen is rocked!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Seigel misses with a low kick.
This entire fight has taken place on the feet so far and you wonder whether Olsen might be better served trying to take this one to the ground because he's losing the standup battle so far.

A low kick from Seigel misses
and Olsen counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Seigel throws a right and a left that Olsen avoids nicely.
Seigel tries to land a body kick
letting Olsen counter with a right hand.
Olsen misses the jab.
Seigel throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
An attempted straight right counter from Olsen misses the target.
Olsen slips under a jab.
Seigel lands with a hook. Olsen tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Olsen lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Olsen closes the distance and lands a vicious right hand that drops Seigel! Olsen dives in looking to finish! Seigel is still trying to defend himself but he's taking too many shots and the referee has no choice but to stop the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:22 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Kjetil Olsen!
