PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Draco Leonidas (ranked 1102 p4p, 2765 weight class) and Adam Porsche (ranked 103 p4p, 235 weight class). Porsche has chosen Hate it or Love it as his entrance music. Draco Leonidas is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Draco Leonidas! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Adam Porsche! The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Tarja Halkonen and Anni Minnemäki.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Leonidas gets caught flat footed, as Porsche shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Porsche is fighting to break Leonidas's control of his arms but Leonidas is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Porsche is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Leonidas is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Leonidas has escaped and now he's on top! Leonidas is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Leonidas trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Leonidas controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Porsche is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
That's one minute gone in the round. Leonidas seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Leonidas trying to control the position from guard on top but Porsche is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Leonidas is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Porsche is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Porsche holds on and takes a little breather. Leonidas pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Porsche is keeping the position for now.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Porsche is looking for a triangle but Leonidas pushes his legs off easily.
Porsche isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Leonidas stacks Porsche on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Leonidas! Leonidas is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Porsche will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already. Porsche tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Leonidas wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Leonidas looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Porsche felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it. The referee asks Leonidas politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Leonidas prefers to stall for the moment though. Porsche trying to control but Leonidas flips him over like a cheap hooker and has his back! Leonidas controlling well, preventing Porsche from escaping the position.
Leonidas looking for the choke from the back. Porsche is defending well here and trying to improve his position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A bit of a pause in the action here. Leonidas controlling the positon. Porsche trying to control the hands but Leonidas won't let him. Leonidas is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Porsche knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Porsche for a finish. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Draco Leonidas dominated that round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Porsche just misses with a punch to the body.
Porsche gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. Leonidas moves into the clinch successfully.
Leonidas tries to work over Porsche's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. Leonidas prevents Porsche from breaking the clinch. With the two fighters working up against the cage, Porsche just misses with a elbow thrown towards Leonidas's brow. Leonidas lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Porsche or not. Leonidas is fighting off a takedown attempt but Porsche is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Leonidas to the mat. Leonidas regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat. Leonidas is pulling down on Porsche's head. It's preventing any offense from Porsche, at least for the moment. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Leonidas manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Porsche manages to get himself to full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Porsche keeping moving, preventing Leonidas from controlling successfully. Porsche can't keep his opponent in guard - Leonidas advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Leonidas not doing much here.
Porsche wants to get back to full guard. Leonidas is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Porsche can do to turn this around? Leonidas seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Porsche does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Leonidas is figuring out what he wants to do next.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Porsche is looking to improve his position.
Leonidas in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Porsche tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Leonidas!
