Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Cicero Verus!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 60 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Pawel Nastula!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Ren Mimura and Shigeki Fujiwara.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Verus shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Nastula is trying to defend but Verus finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Verus takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Nastula wants to get back to full guard but Verus has mounted him!
Verus takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Verus looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Nastula really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Verus. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Verus tries to stand up but he's trapped just for the moment.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Nastula can do anything to dispel that myth.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Verus content just to control the position here.
Nastula takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

Verus cracks Nastula with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
A nice elbow there by Verus.
Nastula is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Nastula is in a horrible position here. Verus smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Verus definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Verus working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
Nastula felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Verus lands a big shot there that rocks Nastula but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Verus seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Nastula for as long as he can get away with.
Nastula sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Nastula is looking for a sweep. Verus is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Verus is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Nastula is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
