Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Akahoshi Hisashi (ranked 1478 p4p, 1958 weight class) and Albert Hofmann (ranked 195 p4p, 254 weight class). Hisashi's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Feng Shui. Hofmann has chosen Primer 55 - Dose as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Albert Hofmann has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Akahoshi Hisashi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Albert Hofmann!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Arvi Lind and Tarja Halkonen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hisashi wants to clinch.

Hofmann's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Hisashi rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Hofmann moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Hofmann decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Hofmann connects with a nice short shot to Hisashi's temple.
Hofmann not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Hisashi wants to get back to his feet.

Hofmann is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Hisashi defends it well.
Hisashi tries to kick Hofmann off but Hofmann keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Hisashi manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Hofmann keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Hofmann is looking to break free of the clinch but Hisashi has double underhooks.

Hofmann escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Hisashi connects with a good right hand that stumbles Hofmann. Hofmann circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Akahoshi Hisashi will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Hisashi throws a looping overhand right but Hofmann ducks down to avoid it.

The referee is taking a good look at Hisashi as he is on the wrong end of some big shots from Hofmann!
A bit of a pause in the action here. Hofmann controlling the positon.

Hofmann lands with a couple of good shots - one to the side of the head and one questionable shot that could be viewed as to the back of the head but the referee lets it go.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Albert Hofmann showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Hofmann drops his hands momentarily and Hisashi takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Hofmann lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Hisashi missing with a left hand there. Hofmann was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
A nice side step and Hofmann releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
