Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jamil Hurst!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Darwin Zambrano!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and Percy O'Donnell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hurst takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Zambrano throws a nice inside leg kick.
Zambrano moves away from the strike by Hurst.
A countering left hand to the body from Zambrano misses.
Hurst swings for the body but Zambrano moves out of range.

Hurst drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Zambrano tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Hurst wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Zambrano looking for a sweep but Hurst has passed into full mount! Oh no!
Zambrano is trying to escape the mount.
Zambrano manages to regain half guard. Good work.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Nice strikes from Hurst there.

Hurst is working for a kimura but Zambrano is defending it quite comfortably.
Hurst looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Zambrano wants to improve his position but Hurst is controlling well.
Hurst slips a nice elbow through Zambrano's hands, connecting with Zambrano's forehead.
Zambrano moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Zambrano has his foot on Hurst's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Hurst works his way back into a safe position though.

Zambrano is looking for a triangle but Hurst pushes his legs off easily.

Zambrano is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Hurst working some strikes from top position.
Hurst advances to half guard.
Hurst seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Hurst trying to control from Zambrano's half guard. Zambrano has other ideas though and has regained full guard.
Hurst trying to control the position from guard on top but Zambrano is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Zambrano trying to keep a closed guard but Hurst is proving a slippery customer.

Hurst has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Zambrano pushes a forearm under Hurst's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Hurst is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:33 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Darwin Zambrano!
A relieved looking Darwin Zambrano thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
