PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ruddo Ryokale (ranked 1619 p4p, 1446 weight class) and Dylan Elkins (ranked 211 p4p, 190 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 27 - 30 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ruddo Ryokale!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 19 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Dylan Elkins!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, John Mangel and Darius Henderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ryokale tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Ryokale throws a series of strikes that have Elkins backpedaling.
Elkins misses with a hook.
Ryokale thinks about countering with a body kick.
Elkins ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Ryokale moves away.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Elkins enables Ryokale to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Elkins manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Elkins manages to escape and get back to his feet.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Elkins lands a glancing blow to the side of Ryokale's head.
We've been hearing reports that Ryokale has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Elkins takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Elkins changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Elkins walks into a jab.
Ryokale throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Elkins throws a lazy right hand but Ryokale sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Elkins lands with an overhand left.
Elkins lands a head shot.
Elkins throws a body shot but no joy.
Elkins ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Ryokale moves away.
A shot to the body from Elkins misses
and Ryokale cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Elkins works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Ryokale swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Elkins uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Ryokale has time to react.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Elkins throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Ryokale looks to land a right hand but Elkins moved out of range.
Elkins scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Ryokale doesn't seem bothered though.
Elkins just misses with a punch to the body.
Ryokale will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Elkins is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Ryokale rather than just go for the knockout.
Elkins lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Elkins bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Elkins connects with a looping right hand.
Ryokale falls off balance throwing a combination
and Elkins counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Elkins scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Ryokale doesn't seem bothered though.
Ryokale swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Ryokale takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

and Ryokale counters with a one-two to the body.

Ryokale shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Elkins is trying to defend but Ryokale finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Ryokale is breathing heavily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Ryokale prevents Elkins from improving his position.
Ryokale wants to pass to mount but Elkins is defending the position.
Elkins is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Ryokale's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Ryokale's back!
Ryokale can't escape the position.

Elkins has got one arm under Ryokale's chin. This could be trouble... Ryokale trying to control the other hand but Elkins gets it free and sqeezes tight - just a matter of time now! Yep, Ryokale has tapped out! The fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:48 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Dylan Elkins!
During a confident post fight interview, Dylan Elkins thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
