Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Hin Areni (ranked 2186 p4p, 1783 weight class) and Paul Kings (ranked 161 p4p, 137 weight class). Areni comes to the cage accompanied by Mosaique. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 25 - 16 - 0, fighting out of London, Hin Areni! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 10 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Paul Kings! The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Phil Schofield and Colin Fotheringham.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kings punishes Areni's body with a nice straight punch. Kings gets off balance looking for a body kick and Areni counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Kings felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it. Kings wants to get back to full guard. Kings looking to force a kimura from the bottom here. He's concentrating on that move too much though and Areni pushes past his half guard into mount! Kings really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Areni is trying to stand up but he's being controlled by his opponent. Kings is in all sorts of trouble here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Kings manages to regain half guard. Good work. Areni has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Kings wants to control but Areni is keeping busy.

The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Kings gets full guard. Areni stopping the sweep attempt from Kings. Kings had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Areni defends it easily. Areni wanted to stand there but Kings had control of the position.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. The fight stays on the outside here - Kings looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Kings tries to close the distance and clinch but Areni swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Kings closes the distance and clinches. Kings stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body. Areni misses with a hook from the clinch. An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Kings. Areni swings wildly with an uppercut but Kings uses good head movement to avoid it. Kings makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut. Kings is looking for a takedown. Kings blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Kings has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Areni avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Areni makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut. Kings trying to land knees to the body.

Kings throws a head punch that misses. Areni lands a hook to the side of the head. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Hin Areni dominated that round. That's time! Back to the action! Kings misses with a looping right. Areni changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit. Kings throws a leg kick and Areni counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Kings throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Areni would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kings looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Kings wants to hit a sweep here but Areni passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Kings there!
That's one minute gone in the round. Kings looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back! Kings manages to reverse the position and now he's in Areni's guard. Nice work there by Kings.
Areni looking to hit a scissor sweep but Kings is one step ahead there. Hin Areni overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Kings sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Areni's guard. Kings looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Kings takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Kings blocks the strikes from Areni.
Areni is trying to get back to full guard. Kings is looking to advance position but Areni won't allow it. Kings is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Kings throwing shots but Areni is blocking nicely. Areni is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Areni flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

Kings frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Kings wants to finish this one by submission but Areni is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Kings. Kings can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Areni is looking to escape. Areni is flailing around like a fish out of water, trying to land strikes. Areni throwing punches from his back but nothing is landing.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Areni throws a strike from the bottom but Kings uses the opportunity to take his back. Kings is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Areni has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here. Areni is in bad spot here.
Areni staying busy and making it hard for Kings to control. Kings working for a choke but Areni is defending well. Areni tries to escape but Kings has the hooks in and won't let him break free. Kings patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here? The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Kings is hanging on to Areni's back as he tries to escape.
