Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Liwa Kursiwa (ranked 3181 p4p, 3486 weight class) and Tyrann Madden (ranked 269 p4p, 290 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Liwa Kursiwa! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Tyrann Madden! The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Valeri Chadov and Aleksandr Martynov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kursiwa fails with a takedown attempt. Excellent takedown into side control there by Kursiwa. Madden pushes Kursiwa away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Kursiwa gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Kursiwa tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Kursiwa has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Kursiwa slows the pace down. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Madden wants to get back to his feet but Kursiwa drags him back down. Kursiwa cracks Madden with an elbow. That is naaassty. Madden felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it. Madden is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Kursiwa has just dragged him back down to the mat. Kursiwa lands a nice forearm strike. Kursiwa prevents Madden from escaping the position. Kursiwa trying to control the action but Madden is working from the bottom. Kursiwa working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Madden pushes Kursiwa away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Kursiwa gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Kursiwa grinds an elbow into Madden's temple. Madden is working to avoid the ground and pound but Kursiwa connects with a decent elbow. Kursiwa trying to control the action but Madden is working from the bottom. Sloppy strikes there by Kursiwa. Kursiwa wants to control but Madden is keeping him busy.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Madden wants to get back to his feet. Madden is letting Kursiwa control him for a moment. Madden is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Kursiwa has just dragged him back down to the mat. Kursiwa scores with punches from side control. Madden is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here. Kursiwa tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Kursiwa has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Madden seems a little lost for a moment, as Kursiwa dominates the positioning.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Madden takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Madden can do anything to dispel that myth. Madden is working to avoid the ground and pound but Kursiwa connects with a decent elbow. Madden wants to get back to his feet. Kursiwa stands up and we're back to a striking position. Tyrann Madden seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Madden on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! A combination from Kursiwa does no damage. Madden is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot. Kursiwa forces Madden back against the cage and clinches. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Liwa Kursiwa dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.
Kursiwa has taken the fight to the clinch.
Still in the clinch, Madden scores with a nice short uppercut. Madden lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Kursiwa is rocked! Madden stalling in the clinch.
Oh Kursiwa is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Kursiwa is trying to pull guard but Madden turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. Madden throws a knee to the head but misses.
Kursiwa seems to have got his legs back now. I was talking to Kursiwa's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight. Madden trying to control the position but instead, Kursiwa has worked for underhooks and has pushed Madden into the cage. Kursiwa throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Madden blocks it with crossed arms. Kursiwa wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Madden has him pressed against the cage. Kursiwa pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Kursiwa staying out of range there. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Madden cracks Kursiwa on the jaw with a powerful right hand and Kursiwa falls backwards against the cage. Madden follows up with more strikes that drop Kursiwa to his knees. Madden keeps the pressure on and the referee jumps in to save Kursiwa! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:46 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Tyrann Madden!
