Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ernesto Romero!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Maksim Taranin!
The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Vladimir Khabensky and Konstantin Menshow.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Romero tries to close the distance and clinch up but Taranin swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Taranin tries to counter with a clinch but Romero shakes him off and moves away.
Romero looks to clinch
and Taranin counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Taranin thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Taranin throws a strike but Romero rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Taranin is looking for a triangle here but Romero uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Taranin tries to get back to half guard but can't.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Taranin is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Taranin trying to hold on to Romero's head to control him but Romero postures up.
Taranin felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Taranin is trying to control but can't.
Taranin moves into full guard.
Romero controls from within his opponent's guard.
Romero trying to control but Taranin is working from the bottom.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Romero wants to stand but Taranin has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Taranin has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Romero should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Taranin has tightened it up now! Romero should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
