Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Oliver Robson (ranked 9 p4p, 56 weight class) and Glen Hoddle (ranked 2 p4p, 9 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 26 - 6 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, Oliver Robson!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 10 - 0, fighting out of London, Glen Hoddle!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Chris Edwards and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hoddle ducks right into an uppercut from Robson.
Hoddle tries for a takedown but Robson circles away easily
and Robson counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Robson walks into a stiff left hand from Hoddle.
Robson swings for the body but Hoddle moves out of range.
Hoddle throws a lazy body kick
and Robson counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

It looks like Glen Hoddle has been cut.
Hoddle lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
We've been told by Robson's head coaches at Team Grunt that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Hoddle misses with a takedown attempt
and Robson counters with a straight right hand.
Hoddle throws a hook but Robson avoids it easily.
Robson throws a big counter combination but Hoddle scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Robson stuffs the takedown.
Oliver Robson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Glen Hoddle.
Robson misses with a wild body shot.
Robson scoring well with a low kick there.
Robson comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Hoddle cracks Robson with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Hoddle throws a sloppy head kick and Robson moves out of range easily.

Hoddle has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Robson lands a nice leg kick that just misses Hoddle's sensitive parts.

Robson looks to score with a jab to the body but Hoddle is just out of range.
Robson digs a good body shot into Hoddle's ribs.

Robson lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Robson throws a nice outside leg kick.
Hoddle on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.

and Robson counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Hoddle thinking.

Hoddle's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Robson connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Hoddle scrambles back to his feet.
Hoddle gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Hoddle moves forwards but Robson connects with a nice, crisp jab.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Hoddle rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
enabling Robson to counter with a crisp jab.

Hoddle throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Robson fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Hoddle shoots and misses
and Robson counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Hoddle gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Hoddle throws a wild body kick that Robson sees coming a mile off.
Hoddle misses with an uppercut.
Hoddle throws a body shot but no joy.

Hoddle lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Robson at a distance.
Robson feints and then cracks Hoddle's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Hoddle down.

Hoddle gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Hoddle rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Robson counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Hoddle misses with a straight right.
Robson clobbers Hoddle with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
A looping hook to the body misses from Hoddle. Robson does a little dance to reset his feet.
Hoddle shoots in looking for a takedown. Robson tries to sprawl out of it but Hoddle keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Robson manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Glen Hoddle seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Robson lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Hoddle loads up on a big right hand but Robson slips the punch.
It looked like Robson was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Hoddle misses with a takedown
and Hoddle takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

That has opened up Glen Hoddle's cut even more.
Hoddle waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Robson.

Hoddle drives through with a takedown into guard.

Robson has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Hoddle is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.
A shot in the inside from Robson.
Hoddle throws a punch but it's blocked by Robson.
Hoddle tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Robson lands with a short head shot on the inside.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Robson creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Robson lands a hook that snaps the head of Hoddle backwards.

The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Hoddle fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Hoddle wants a takedown.
Robson lands a hook that snaps the head of Hoddle backwards.
Hoddle is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The cut man is working on Glen Hoddle's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Robson bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Hoddle's head backwards.
Hoddle is still on wobbly legs! Can Robson finish him?

A nice inside leg kick there by Robson. That's going to slow Hoddle down.
Hoddle's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Hoddle avoids a punch combination nicely.
Hoddle seems to have recovered his senses.
Robson lands with a thumping leg kick.
Hoddle throws a body kick, spinning off balance
and Robson counters with a thumping low kick.
Hoddle throws a poor cross that misses
and Robson counters with a nice uppercut.

Robson uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Hoddle.
Hoddle swings for the body but Robson moves out of range.

Hoddle has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Hoddle there as he acknowledges the shot.
Hoddle throws a push kick but Robson slaps the foot to one side.
Robson lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.

The cut above Glen Hoddle's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Oliver Robson is winning the standup battle so far.
Hoddle tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Robson defends well and Hoddle ends up having to push Robson into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Robson uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Hoddle has time to react.
Hoddle backs away from a small jab... but Robson lunges forward with a huge superman punch! Hoddle crumples to the ground as his mouth piece is sent flying! Robson with a spectacular finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:46 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Superman Punch). Oliver Robson!
Oliver Robson retains his welterweight title!
After winning the bout, Oliver Robson thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
