Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jesse-James Hopson (ranked 479 p4p, 1715 weight class) and Jim Bob Walton (ranked 41 p4p, 158 weight class). Hopson comes to the cage accompanied by Home among the gumtrees.. Jim Bob Walton told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jesse-James Hopson!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jim Bob Walton!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Steve Smith and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Walton throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Hopson feinted with a counter takedown.
Hopson slips under a jab.
Hopson throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Walton counters with a stiff right hand.
Walton throws a hook but Hopson blocks it.
Walton misses with a left hand

so Hopson counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Hopson works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Walton is trying to stand up here but Hopson is controlling him well.
Hopson perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Walton can do anything to dispel that myth.

During a confident post fight interview, Jesse-James Hopson thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
The defeated Jim Bob Walton had this to say: 'I am surprised I made it to the cage to be honest. One hell of a Night Last night. Congrats to the other guy over there. We will run it back one day when im not all f'd up on hallucinogens. '.
