Coming up we have a welterweight kickboxing rules bout between Tom Louis (ranked 22278 p4p, 2334 weight class) and Ubaldo Cortez (ranked 610 p4p, 303 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ubaldo Cortez!
The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Leandro Rodrigues and Daniel Cesar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cortez steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Louis.
Cortez connects with a body shot.

Louis has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Cortez.

and Louis connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Louis ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Louis moves out of range as Cortez throws a body kick.
We've been informed that Cortez has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.

Cortez throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Louis was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.

Louis throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Cortez sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Louis takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Louis scores with a one two! Cortez had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Cortez lands with a shot to the body.
Louis throws a sloppy head kick and Cortez moves out of range easily.

Cortez turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Cortez sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Cortez throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
Tom Louis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Cortez cracks Louis with a good jab.
Louis is rocked!
It looks like Tom Louis has been cut.

and Cortez counters with a nice low kick that buckles Louis's knee momentarily.
Oh Louis is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Louis is breathing heavily.
Cortez knocks out Louis with a massive right hand! The ref tackles Cortez before he can follow up with any more strikes and that's it everyone. Cortez picks up the big W with a huge KO!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:14 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Ubaldo Cortez!
A relieved looking Ubaldo Cortez thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
Tom Louis spoke after the fight, saying 'As much as I want to I just don't have the chin to keep going. I love you all but this is my last fight'.
