The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Matsuda throws a right hand that misses
and Giovanni counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Matsuda fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Giovanni manages to avoid it.
Giovanni looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.

Matsuda is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Giovanni with a body shot.

and Matsuda counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

It looks like Tanaka Matsuda has been cut.

and Matsuda counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Giovanni knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Matsuda on the ground.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Matsuda throws an elbow that misses. Giovanni uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Matsuda's guard. Nice move by Giovanni!

Matsuda is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Matsuda escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Giovanni gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Matsuda has his foot on Giovanni's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Giovanni works his way back into a safe position though.
