PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Nicky Manu (ranked 1209 p4p, 1999 weight class) and Walter White (ranked 163 p4p, 256 weight class). Manu's entrance music is Welcome to the Opera - Anyma & Grimes. A fine choice. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nicky Manu!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Walter White!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Elvis Blanc and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
White drops his hands momentarily and Manu takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
White connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Manu's hands.
Manu keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Manu throws a sloppy head kick and White moves out of range easily.
Manu definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
That kick from White tenderised Manu's leg. Manu is trying to keep his angry face on.
Manu misses with a series of wild punches.
White on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Manu lands a jab-cross combination.
White doesn't manage to clinch there - Manu circles away.
White looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Manu defending well as White loads up on a big left hand.
Manu throws a sloppy head kick and White moves out of range easily.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
White thows a leg kick but Manu checks it
and Manu counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Manu leaves White with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Manu blocks a jab.
Manu misses with a double jab.
Manu on the wrong end of a nice hook.

White closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

White thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Manu's head.
White seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Manu on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
White throws a strike but Manu avoids it easily and moves to full guard.

Manu knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for White on the ground.

White lands a couple of elbows.
White trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
White works a leg free and moves into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

White is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Manu defends it well.
White slows the pace down in half guard.

White is nestled in close to Manu, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
White frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
White punching from mount but Manu doing a good job of avoiding damage.
White is in the full mount, landing strikes.
White thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.

White prevents Manu from getting the reversal.
White connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
White sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
White with a couple of short strikes.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Manu takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
White pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Walter White dominated that round.
That's time! Manu's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

White throws an overhand right that lands on Manu's shoulder, as Manu tries to avoid the shot.
A head kick misses from Manu.
No joy there for Manu, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
White keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
White throws a hook but Manu avoids it easily.
Nicky Manu is winning the standup battle so far.
Manu misses with a head kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Manu blocks a low kick nicely.
White shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Manu sprawls well. Manu wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. White gets slowly back to his feet.
White fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Manu is out of range.

White throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Manu's waist but Manu gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing White off to one side.
Nice defenses there by White.
Nicky Manu is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
A chopping leg kick lands by White.
The crowd cheers as White lands an impressive looking overhand right. Manu doesn't seem phased though.
Manu bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps White's head backwards.
Manu fails to land with a series of punches.
White connects with a leg kick.
White is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Walter White seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
White fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Manu avoids it really well and circles away.
Nicky Manu has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Walter White.

Manu tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

White lands with a right hand.
Manu lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but White circles away quickly and effectively.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

White thows a left - swing and a miss!
White lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Manu steps to the side to avoid the strikes from White.
White takes a shot right to the bread basket.
A jab from White finds it's way through Manu's defenses.
White throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Manu lands a head kick. White smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
White lands an overhand right.
White shoots in for a takedown but Manu shows good takedown defense.
White looks to land a left hand but Manu moved out of range nicely.
Manu fakes high and swings low for a body shot but White manages to avoid it.

White uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Manu.
White misses with a hook. Manu ducked under it nicely.
White misses with a takedown attempt - Manu sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
White throws a leg kick
and Manu counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Manu tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Manu dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
White throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Manu looks to land a combination but White avoids it well.
White connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
White goes for a double leg but Manu avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Manu continues to drive forward.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from White.
White uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Manu.

Manu misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Manu throws a right and a left that both miss.
White is trying hard to land a takedown here. Manu sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

White tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Manu throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
White avoids the head kick by Manu.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!

White shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
White throws a nice outside leg kick.
White lands a nice shot that snaps Manu's head back.
Manu takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Manu misses with a jab, cross combination.
Manu throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
White takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
White scores with a punch to the head.

White clinches.
White tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Manu can't break the clinch.
White has Manu pressed against the cage.
Manu is looking to break free of the clinch but White has double underhooks.
Manu is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
White trying to control the position but instead, Manu has worked for underhooks and has pushed White into the cage.

White manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

White pulls Manu in close to his closed guard and prevents Manu from doing any damage or advancing position.
Walter White has got the better of the ground game so far.
Let's hope that White has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

White is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Manu rolls with it to try and escape but White cranks on the arm and Manu is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:55 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Walter White!
