Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, John Paul!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ledley King!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, Richard Clark and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Paul drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
King is looking to regain half guard here but Paul keeps moving and retains side control.
Paul lands an elbow.
King can't do much from the bottom here.
Paul in side control lands a decent elbow.
King tries to bench press Paul off him but Paul keeps the position.
You can see the frustration on King's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Paul is looking to take a break and control but King is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
King is trying to get back to half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
King can't do much from the bottom here.
King is not content to let Paul control the position.

King is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

King working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Paul doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Paul manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Paul distracts King with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

King is trying to keep Paul in close.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

King is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

King escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Paul gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

King has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Paul doesn't defend quickly enough and King has managed to lock this one up! Can Paul escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to King on a fantastic submission victory.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:20 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Ledley King!
In his post fight interview, Ledley King started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
