Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Mehmet Shakaromanov (ranked 615 p4p, 1067 weight class) and Jesse Kruger (ranked 82 p4p, 142 weight class). Mehmet Shakaromanov could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Jesse Kruger's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mehmet Shakaromanov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Jesse Kruger!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Alec Ball and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kruger misses with a takedown attempt
and Shakaromanov counters with a stiff right hand.
Kruger moves out of range of the strikes.
Kruger throws a jab when Shakaromanov was well out of range.
A nice leg kick from Shakaromanov, right into the meat of the thigh.
Kruger ducks under a wild hook from Shakaromanov.

Kruger closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Kruger tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Kruger has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Shakaromanov tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Kruger presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!

Kruger jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Shakaromanov is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Shakaromanov and Kruger has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Kruger swings around for an armbar but Shakaromanov sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Kruger's guard.

Shakaromanov works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Shakaromanov landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.

Shakaromanov wants to free his trapped foot but Kruger is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Kruger is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Shakaromanov avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Kruger wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Shakaromanov is now in half guard.
Shakaromanov knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Kruger on the ground.

Shakaromanov is working for a submission of some sort.

Shakaromanov passes the guard and advances to mount!
Kruger is trying desperately to improve position.
Kruger tries to hold on but Shakaromanov pushes him away.
Shakaromanov looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Shakaromanov is trying to take his opponent's back.
Kruger bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Kruger has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Combat Wombat Burrow. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.

Shakaromanov utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Kruger makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Kruger passes into half guard.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Mehmet Shakaromanov will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Shakaromanov misses with an uppercut.
Shakaromanov jabs Kruger right on the nose. Kruger blinks but takes it well.
Shakaromanov misses with a looping left.
Shakaromanov connects with a solid leg kick.
Kruger looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Shakaromanov is fending him off so far but Kruger persists. Nope, Shakaromanov circles away and we're back to standing.
Shakaromanov swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Shakaromanov closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Shakaromanov throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Shakaromanov jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
A chopping leg kick lands by Shakaromanov.
Shakaromanov is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Kruger can do to turn this around?

Kruger is rocked!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Shakaromanov moves out of range of the strikes.
Shakaromanov throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Kruger.
Kruger connects with a single shot there.
Shakaromanov looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
We've been told by Shakaromanov's head coaches at The Firm that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Shakaromanov lands a jab to the head.

Shakaromanov lunges at Kruger with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Kruger's hand.
Kruger is still on wobbly legs! Can Shakaromanov finish him?
Kruger looks for a takedown but Shakaromanov sprawls well.

Shakaromanov cracks Kruger with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Shakaromanov has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Kruger to stand back up!
Shakaromanov throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Shakaromanov sends Kruger crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Shakaromanov is motioning to the referee to let Kruger up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Shakaromanov drops a shoulder and throws an uppercut that cracks Kruger right on the button. Kruger goes down! Shakaromanov follows him to the mat and finishes the job with more strikes! Shakaromanov gets the win via TKO!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:31 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Mehmet Shakaromanov!
A relieved looking Mehmet Shakaromanov thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
