Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Bobby Barnell (ranked 24631 p4p, 4351 weight class) and Drew Moore (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Barnell comes to the cage accompanied by Hypnotize. Drew Moore has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Bobby Barnell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Drew Moore!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Roger Salmon and Jeff Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Moore gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Barnell to score an easy takedown into full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Barnell throwing strikes but missing.
Barnell pushes down on Moore's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Barnell is trying to control. Moore wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Barnell throwing shots but Moore is blocking nicely.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Barnell really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Moore utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Moore looking to hit a scissor sweep but Barnell is one step ahead there.

Barnell's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Barnell has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Barnell working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Moore looking for a sweep. Not yet Moore, not yet.
Barnell distracts Moore with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Barnell throwing strikes but missing.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Barnell content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Barnell wants to get up but he can't break Moore's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Moore working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Barnell doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Barnell manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Moore manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Barnell manages to get himself to full guard.

Barnell on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Barnell tries to get out of the position.
Barnell is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Barnell has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Moore is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Barnell scores with a couple of nice shots.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Barnell misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Moore throws a low kick but it's checked well by Barnell.
Barnell shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Moore as he jumps to the side.
Bobby Barnell seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Moore moves in looking to clinch but Barnell pushes him off.
Moore fails with the takedown

and Barnell counters by clinching up.

Barnell is trying to trip Moore. He has hold of a leg but Moore is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Barnell persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Moore is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Barnell dives into side control.

Moore is not content to let Barnell control the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Moore is trying to get back to half guard.

Barnell is looking to take a break and control but Moore is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Moore throws a couple of punches but he's in a bad position and they don't land.
Moore looks to move to half guard but instead Barnell has passed into mount! Damn!

Barnell takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Moore is rocked!
Barnell lands a couple of good shots and Moore has given up his back, trying to escape the position!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Oooh a big shot gets through from Barnell. Many more shots like that and the referee will have to think about stepping in!

Moore stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Barnell swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Barnell not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Moore seems to have recovered his senses.
Barnell stands up over Moore, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Moore has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Barnell is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Moore.
Barnell is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Moore can do to turn this around?

and Barnell counters with a single leg into guard. Moore didn't expect that.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Moore takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Barnell looks up at the clock and then as Moore takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Barnell smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Bobby Barnell is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Barnell, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
