Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Clarence Hoost (ranked 5 p4p, 14 weight class) and Mike Haggar (ranked 2 p4p, 3 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 39 - 24 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mike Haggar!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hoost blocks a jab.
Haggar scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
The fighters circle momentarily. Haggar darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Haggar shoots in for a double leg but Hoost sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
We've been informed that Haggar has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
Haggar lands with an overhand left.
Good shot there by Haggar.
Haggar dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Hoost tries to move into range but Haggar moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Hoost moves forwards but Haggar connects with a nice, crisp jab.

Haggar fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.

Hoost walks into a left hand.
Haggar feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Hoosts jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

Haggar looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Haggar lands a lovely overhand right.

and Hoost connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Hoost blocks a jab.
Haggar lands a jab-cross combination.
Haggar shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Haggar takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Clarence Hoost has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mike Haggar.

Mike Haggar seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

It appears Hoost was looking to counter with a kick there.
Haggar uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Hoost has time to react.

Hoost was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
Haggar lands a jab to Hoost's midsection.

Haggar changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Hoost tries to avoid it but Haggar manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Hoost to the ground. Hoost escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Haggar shoots for a takedown but Hoost saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Haggar wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Haggar throws a series of punches but Hoost avoids them all with ease.

Hoost doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Clarence Hoost is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Haggar.

Haggar looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Hoost was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Haggar throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Hoost lifts his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.
Nice takedown defense from Hoost. No joy for Haggar on that attempt.
Hoost swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Mike Haggar dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

Haggar just manages to avoid a counter high kick fromHoost.
It looks like Hoost has been trying to sharpen up his punching technique, as it looks crisper than last time we saw him.
Hoost takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Haggar throws a lazy uppercut
and Hoost finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.
Haggar throws a poor cross that misses
and Hoost counters with a beautiful right hand that knocks Haggar out cold! What a finish! Hoost is going crazy, running around the mat, summersaulting off the corner posts and screaming into the cameras. Something tells me he's pretty happy!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:21 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Clarence Hoost!

A relieved looking Clarence Hoost thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
