Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 25 - 13 - 1, fighting out of New York, Carter Wright!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 9 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Spider Monkey!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Shigeki Sano and Kenichi Hosakawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wright misses with a series of wild punches.
Monkey ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Wright moves away.
Monkey looks to throw a body kick
and Wright connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Monkey slips a straight right by Wright.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Wright misses with a left hand
and Monkey counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
It looks like Carter Wright has been cut.
Wright throws a big shot that misses.
Monkey replies with a solid counter kick to the body but Wright blocks it well.
Monkey thows a leg kick but Wright checks it
and Wright counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Wright looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Monkey tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Monkey steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Wright. That one must have hurt.
Monkey throws a leg kick
and Wright counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Wright lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Wright moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Monkey throws a poor cross that misses
and Wright scores with a counter punch that sends Monkey to the canvas! Wright smells blood - he's punishing Monkey with more strikes and the ref has stopped it! Monkey has no idea where he is - he's tackled the ref... oh dear, poor guy, the crowd is in hysterics!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Carter Wright!
After winning the bout, Carter Wright thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
